Another great experience. -Super friendly staff -Fast service (under ten minutes to get our food) - delicious food -open layout - a lot of food Will be coming back for more. The steak sandwich was pretty good. We really liked the chili. The wife wasn't to impressed with the soup of the day, but hey I liked it. The Nachos are really good. The kids liked the chicken nuggets. In the end it's a great vegan food place. You really can't go wrong !

This place is great! In all honesty, had I known it was 100% vegetarian when I walked in, I would've walked out. I'm an omnivore, and generally no meal is complete without a little meat. That being said, I've been here a couple times now and I really like it. On my first visit, I ordered the Bangkok Curry bowl which was OK but not something I'd go back for. While I really like how they cooked the tofu, the veggies were pretty crisp and the curry didn't taste as complex or flavorful as I would've liked. My boyfriend had the faux meatball sub which was really yummy but probably not that healthy. The last time I came in, I had the Ensalada Azteca salad. The Azteca is amazing and crave-worthy! It was the most flavorful and interesting salad I've ever had and I also felt like it was really filling for a salad. I'm sold on this place now, and it'll be my new go-to when I feel like I need to up my veggie quota for the week! Finally, they are open really late so its a good stop if you've not had a chance to grab dinner until after most things have closed for the night.

Tasty, healthy, flavorful, unique food - you barely notice it's vegan! A great addition to this mall and Pt. Loma. Wonderful salads, bowls, sandwiches, burgers, tacos and wraps. Tried a cup of the split pea soup today, and it was delicious! A little more "thin" than we make it, but very flavorful, and just $2.95. The Carribean Jerk salad is amazing - with Jerk-seasoned tempeh, avocado, mango, red peppers, onion, and kale, topped w/ a creamy jalapeño cilantro dressing. Want to try the Azteca salad, too, and some of the bowls -- the Bangkok curry bowl, Greek Gyro, Soul Bowl and Rockin' Moroccan Bowls all look great. Nice drink options, too - unsweetened teas, lavender lemonade, and watermelon Agua fresca, plus wine and beer (w/ some local and organic options). Love it! Want to come back and try

Vegan say whaaaaat?! Came to this place looking for a nice healthy salad as my boyfriend and I were driving through Point Loma to go brew some beer at a friends house (had to make sure we saved plenty of room for beer, right?). Neither of us are by any definition vegan, but a place like this could definitely turn you! The salads were delicious and so flavorful! We got the the Mexican Cobb and Yo Amigo Taco. I prefer the Cobb over the Taco because the BBQ "chicken" was ahhhh-mazing. The salads were $9 each which feels a little pricey, but it was decent sized and you know you're getting premium ingredients. We shared the salad with our non-vegan friends and they liked it too! I swear you'd never know if someone didn't tell you. I dare you, get food, feed it to your non-vegan friend, tell them it was vegan, and enjoy watching their shocked response :) The staff was friendly, restaurant was clean, and food was delicious! I missed out on all of the interesting flavored teas, lemonade and agua fresca which I plan on trying next time.

The Good News? Native Foods is so yummy!! I get emotional just talking about it ;) Bad News? I live 25 minutes away...which is probably also good news, because I would eat EVERY meal here. I am not a vegan, nor is my husband, or my newly recruited friend, and we are all over-the-moon about the quality, freshness, and flavor of Native Food's dishes. This was my second visit, and also a take out order. I ordered the Ensalada Azteca, Mexican Cobb and Twister Wrap. The portions were plentiful and we were able to leave enough leftovers for at least 2 more meals for the friend we visited. I also bought the oatmeal cookie/cream deliciousness...wow! PLEASE COME TO NORTH COUNTY INLAND!! See you soon!

Found this gem while looking for something healthy to eat as I am trying to stay away from all meats. This place is delicious! I have tried the Ensalada Azteca which is filling and spicy as well as the wraps which are have wonderful flavor. Overall they have great options if you are trying to go vegan or just be healthy in general. I would rather go here then souplantation because the veggies taste fresh and the options are more desirable and inventive. If you get the chance try this place.

I love this place! Tried the Encinitas and Palo Alto locations and they are very friendly but chill. So many delicious options and hard not to get dessert. I love the kung pow tofu :)

Absolutely an easy five-star rating. This was my first time here - I had heard about the restaurant only a few days ago and made plans immediately to go. No disappointment what so ever! Really nice, clean restaurant with good flow and ambiance. I ate outside on the patio near sunset and it was so nice just sitting there, eating, and watching airplanes take off. What a great way to have dinner! I highly recommend sitting outside if the weather is good! Anyway, the service is excellent! The cashier was so polite and courteous, even during the busy-ness of dinner time. Waiters are very attentive and checked on us frequently. No need to flag someone down :). I ordered the Bangkok Curry Bowl. So delicious! Lots of brown rice and veggies, and really fantastic seared tofu. Yum! The curry sauce on it is REALLY good. So good that I had two extra cups of it on the side...oops! My friend ordered the Rockin' Moroccan and it was delicious as well. She had "chicken" on hers and it actually tasted like chicken, and the texture was even there, too. Very impressive for a vegan meat alternative. I liked the Bangkok Curry Bowl better than the Rockin' Moroccan - for me, the sauce on the latter had a strong taste of ginger which I didn't like. That's a personal thing, though :). What a great restaurant. I really loved it and the service! *Update 11/12/14* Again, EXCELLENT food and service! My boyfriend were finishing up our lunches and a server, Christa I believe, comes takes our empty plates and asks if we'd like dessert. We decide to look at the menu. She goes out of her way to bring us a menu, TAKE our order, bring the dessert, check, etc. She really didn't have to do this, but she did. So extremely polite and helpful!! Love the service here!

Love this place. Always friendly service. Great alternative for vegetarian dining out. The polenta bites are a great appetizer and fish tacos are a weekly staple.

AWESOME SERVICE! Went there for the first time today for lunch and the women taking my order was so sweet. Great food just gave 4 stars because of the limitations on menu. Not too many choices or salads. Otherwise, everything was terrific! New favorite cafe.

You'll find this in the TJ Maxx plaza where Baja Fresh used to be. The menu is all on paper so don't be looking for it. And everybody, just because it's vegetarian doesn't mean it's super duper healthy too so keep an eye on that With that said I thought the customer service was excellent in helping out someone like me that doesn't know the majority of these seitan and tempeh meanings. I got this gyro bowl and love the combo with the kale. Seiten is pretty good and everything was filled with flavor. I was warned it may take awhile since it's all made from scratch What's awesome is that you can sign up for a rewards thing and get a free drink. I opted for some organic ice tea and to my delight it's all unsweetened! Hated the hibiscus but the green tea was on point The ordering format is to order at the front and they bring it to you. And they got some craft beer up in here too!!!

Important note: I am not a vegan nor am I even a vegetarian. I can't even consider myself overly health-conscious. I eat Cheetos (even though I know they probably leave my insides glowing haha). With that said... I have been here twice now and I am in LOVE! I knew what this place was about going into it, so I did not expect much (given my eating habits). I chose to try it because I try to choose healthier option for my 4 year old daughter. She loves everything we have tried so far and so have I! The customer service is AWESOME and you can really tell everyone working there loves what they do! I decided to do a little experiment. On our second visit, I brought my husband. Now to say he is a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy is an understatement. About 50% of his daily intake of calories comes from candy and he only cooks one type of meal, steak and potatoes. He could eat fast food everyday and be happy (thankfully, he has me in his life haha). I decided not to tell him the deal with this restaurant, just said it was a healthier place. He is not closed-minded so he was a good sport about it. So, on our visit, he ordered the Bistro Steak sandwich. I ordered the Saigon Roll as an appetizer and the Soul Bowl for myself. He liked the Saigon Roll. When we got our entrees, he also tried the "fried chicken" from my Soul Bowl. Once he admitted he liked everything we ordered, I asked the nice waitress to tell him the truth. She informed him that everything we were eating was 100% plant-based! He was amazed! The fact that he liked the food is definitely saying something! Oh, and the absolute validation: he went back to eat his leftovers the next day. Way to go Native Foods!

I used to spend at least $200 a month here. I stopped going because I kept getting disappointed every time. And I tried going back 1 more time and again I was disappointed. The menu got smaller and they took away the regular items my family and I would order.

Yum! So, so happy there is a Healthy Vegan food joint in my neighborhood! (just because something is vegan doesn't mean that it is healthy). The menu is definitely interesting and different, many options for meat-substitute-lovers. Service is fast and friendly:) I had the Caribbean Jerk Kale Salad and I tried all of my friends dishes:) and everything was so delicious! I love the fact that it is a completely vegan restaurant, its a new and upcoming trend and it makes me leave this place so happy in my tummy! Say NO to Meat, Fast Food,Sugar and Unhealthy Carbs- you'll live a longer life:) I will definitely be back.

Love. Love. Love. First, let me just say...I am not a vegetarian nor a vegan eater. Second, I'm lactose intolerant. #sad Finally, I am a #FOODIE! SO, when my friend said we need to try this food place where everything on the menu is non-dairy...I said...where is it? and when can we go? On my first visit, I tried the Soul Bowl and my friend and I shared the Saigon roll for an appetizer and the oatmeal cream pie for dessert. I also snuck a few bites of the french fries with chipotle sauce. All #foodielicious! Needless to say...it was all so good that I couldn't wait to come back...so I didn't. My second visit I tried the Scorpion burger because it was on special and came with a free side! I also filled out a survey so I also got a free dessert! And you know I came back for the fries and the oatmeal cream pie! Service has been great! Even with a little mistake made...the management went above and beyond to correct it and make my visit positive. I cannot rave enough about this place. Parking is easy...it's in a huge shopping area with lots of parking. There is always a place to sit and you can be indoors or out on the patio. I'm not sure it has convinced me that I need to become a vegetarian...but if I ever do, I know there is a Foodielicious joint in San Diego that will fill my belly!

Finally made it into the Native Foods Cafe officially. Walked right in and got in the order line. My son ordered the (vegan) chicken wrap and he liked it even though he realized it did not have real chicken in it. We both enjoyed our famous Lavender Lemonade--it was truly refreshing and very flavorful. I loved it! If you sign up to be on their mailing list when you order & pay with the cashier, they throw in a free drink! My favorite soup in all the world-Split Pea--was the soup of the day. I was surprised how thin it was and my son thought it looked gross. But I enjoyed it. I am happy that a good vegan cafe had arrived in Loma Shopping Square. I got a good look at the crowd and it was hopping pretty good on an early Saturday evening. There were a mix of a few older types but what surprised me the most was the San Diego version of the hipsters who flocked here. I saw two guys with very long dreadlocks and the ladies wore blue and pink hair. But these were not the Portlandia hipsters. Our San Diego Native Cafe fans looked healthy and sun-kissed. Had to deduct 1 Yelp Star because the prices are not astronomical but it ain't cheap either. While that should not be a problem to the prosperous vegan yuppies and well-heeled Ocean Beach types that can afford a $10 wrap, I prefer to dine a little more affordable. That's not to say Native Cafe is not worth a visit, because it most certainly is.

Very good totally vegan. They make their own "wheat meats" in house. We had the thai wrap, it was delicious. Also my husband had the chicken wings which he loved. The curry bowl was okay, lacking in flavor for me. And we also tried the bacon cheeseburger. It was very flavorful. They do have raw options availabke but most items are cooked and have the "wheat meats" added. Wouod be great for kids they have a lot of kid friendly vegan dishes.

Damn! Shocked! Amazed! Confused! Oh My Vegan!! It was crowded, very crowded on a Saturday at noon for lunch. Had the Reuben and I have to tell you that texture of the "corned beef" was almost, like 80% almost there. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I finished all of it. Vegan food typically is ok to me, somewhat unexciting and texturally fake. Not here I loved it here. The watermelon fresca (with agave) unlimited refills for $2.50 was addicting. I looked around and I kid you not everything looked super delectable. Was too full to get dessert. My brother and I split the Nachos and that was very delicious too : black beans, guac, "cheese", "ground meat" "sour cream" tortillas, green onions. sooo sooo good. This dish was a hit. Huge serving, huge serving. For a no sugar, no lactose, no meat, no dairy joint, love love love this place. Did I say I love this place? I could turn vegan overnight just because of Native Foods! Tip: They have a cookbook. Visits: 1

Going to give a 3 star because I love Native Foods, but.... You got to deliver food in a timely manner and you have to be sure it is hot not like warm. It's a good thing the taco taste good still lukewarm but I can only imagine how good it would have tasted if a little warmer. The Soul Bowl was my 1st meal at Native foods in Encinitas so definitely would have compared it. You got to up your game on this dish. Lukewarm, lukewarm, not good, not good. I feel I need to take the drive to Encinitas to enjoy Native Foods. I'm willing to give you another chance and come back to see if I can raise the stars. Don't disappointment me. Your closer to me and I would love to continue to give you my support. See you next time.

The chicken run ranch burger with fries is perfection. I haven't had McDonald's in over ten years (vegan!) and this tasted just like it but better and without the death and misery of meat and animal products! I'm sure it isn't healthy but definitely healthier than animal based products! The service was great! They apologized a few times for us having to wait but I don't feel we had to wait at all. Love native foods!

Took the family. Very clean place. Good service and very attentive staff. They have a wide selection of dishes. We ordered the Moroccan bowl, bbq bacon cheese burger, chicken nuggets and the crispy chicken bacon and avocado club. This was a vegan restaurant. The dessert was amazing. I recommend the peanut butter parfait. To drink get the water melon or lavender lemonade.

If I could give 10 stars I would. I have been to the irvine location & the Encinitas one--so happy the one close to me just opened. We went to the preview event where they have us free appetizer, entree, dessert & drink! Like a $25 meal right there. Everything was so delicious! Big portions, all vegan, very friendly & helpful staff, no complaints! Make sure to sign up for their free rewards card! And try new things when you go!!

Wow -- an ALL VEGAN restaurant that's easy on the purse strings! 1st time ever here, and it did not disappoint. My little family and I were treated to lunch here (THANK YOU, Marivic C.!); Daughter and Very Reluctant Husband went with. Whoooooohoo! Husband says his Reuben tasted like the real deal -- for my hardcore carnivorous spouse to say that is simply amazing! Daughter demolished her chicken run ranch burger, I LOVE my Oklahoma bacon cheeseburger. Don't know what they do and how they make seitan/tempeh taste good, but keep on keeping on! For all you celiac disease sufferers, they also have gluten free options. Doing my HAPPY DANCE!!!! After you place your order, you are issued a number, and place it on your table. The very friendly staff deliver to you and check on you every so often. The drink station -- get one glass and you're able to try them all! Daughter loved the lavender lemonade; how shall I describe it? Lavender lemonade-y goodness all around. Its very subtle, but oh so delicious. The blueberry hibiscus tea with a sprig of mint is a feast for the eyes. I stuck with my watermelon agua fresco -- very refreshing and not too sweet. The portions are generous, the fries are delicious without being drenched in oil; did I mention how filling it is? Who knew vegan/vegetarian fare could be so tasty? After we consumed our meal, on to dessert. The parfait took a little getting used to. After trying this p/b parfait, it grows on you -- same thing with the brownie. The taste is so different because it isn't over sweet, sending you into a diabetic coma after one taste. Not sure how to phrase this, but you can actually TASTE the food, and not all the processed, sugary yuck we've grown to accustomed to. All I can say is I'm blown away with the honest taste of dessert. My brownie is deliciously different, again in large part because its not weighed down with sugar and preservatives -- but every morsel is just deliciousness. All I can say is Vegans/Vegetarians -- REJOICE! All the flavor, none of the guilt. No lives lost here to feed the patrons. Its definitely worth a visit -- there's something for everyone, and surprisingly, it is busy on a Memorial Weekend Sunday. So glad this place exists. I can easily eat here 5x/wk!

I've been to this location a few times now, and the food is consistently good. It was once a little heavy on the cheese on a reuben, but other than that everything was flavorful and good. The native fries were hot, even though we had a table of 4 get food delivered at about the same time. The runner/bussers are quick and very nice, and even brought extra napkins for us. The lavender lemonade is one of my favorite things about Native Foods, while by husband loves the watermelon fresca. All the drinks are free refills, so you can get your fill. It does get very busy at lunch time, but we haven't had a problem getting in and out in a timely manner. I find it a little annoying that native foods will only offer certain really good menu items on special weekends, but that isn't this location's fault. And don't assume that since it's 100% vegan, it is healthy. Depending on what you order, you can make it a healthy meal, or a super sinful high calorie meal. Either way, it's nice to have a choice, and even my meat eating friends choose to come here for lunch, just because the food is good.

I used to enjoy this place. I still give them credit for being a vegan establishment in a not-so-vegan world but man, what a sudden decline In everything. Food, customer service, value. They recently changed the menu. Took some things out but really all I see is a durastic price increase. Nachos for instance. Now they charge extra for seperate items that used to just come on them. Last time I called to place an order, the lady was so rude. Every two seconds, "whaat?" ,"Huh?". I tried to order tacos.. "uh, we don't have those anymore." Okay, how about the soul bowl? "Yeah ok but, we don't have cornbread." When I picked up my food, they didn't offer a replacement bread or take a buck or two off. Just said "well, it's not part of the soul bowl, it's just an extra." Haha why the heck is it on the menu , accompanying that meal? We used to come here 2-3 times a week. I can't say we won't be back. With all the great things veganism brings, convenience isn't really one of them. But, Native Foods will definitely be reserved for those times other places aren't open or we're not cooking and in a pinch.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Came here for the first time after seeing a friend post a picture of one of the foods that looked so good on Facebook. I had to find out where it was. After I found out the place, I searched on yelp and saw that it close to church. Told my best friend that after serving I wanted to check it out. Glad we did! Walked in and the restaurant smelled so good! We looked at the menu and was surely attached! Loved that it was vegan, cholesterol free, 100% plant-based and organic! I wanted to try everything. I ended up ordering the Bangkok curry bowl and shared the Saigon roll with my best friend. She ordered the Rockin' Moroccan Bowl and for the drink, I ordered the Watermelon Fresca that was free refills and made from scratch and original recipe. I signed up for the rewards program/card and got the my drink for free and then came home and signed up online for their online account and I can get a free dessert on my next visit! Can't wait because the dessert looks so delicious. They too are cholesterol-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free! The food came out fast! At first I thought it was little but boy was I wrong! It was so good and filling! Veggies that I usually don't eat, I ate! Like zucchini and cauliflower! And the watermelon Fresca drink was light and refreshing! The Saigon rolls were delicious too! Everything was great!! Will definitely be back to try other things/everything on the menu!! Each time that I come, I plan to try something new!! Here's to healthier eating!!

With a name like Native Foods you may expect the place to have fry bread or something to that effect. I knew it was a vegan restaurant because I have friends who love love love this place! I ordered a chicken club type sandwich with bacon. Absolutely amazing is all I have to say. The "bacon" tasted just like real bacon. I am new to the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle and get wary of new things but they hit it out of the ballpark. The service is impeccable and the Manager on Duty was helping run food and checking on customers and making sure everyone was doing good. That is always an added bonus. You get 2 thumbs up from 2 fluffy foodies!!!

While there are tons of pros to this place - the staff is really friendly, everything is vegan (so you never have to worry about cross contamination), it's pretty healthy and they have great teas and a wide menu - after about 4 trips here, I do feel there are cons. Each meal I've ordered - from wraps to burgers to bowls all seem to lack real flavor. Each time my order has been lukewarm as well - I'm a stickler for food temp. I feel food should come out hot and each time here it's been like it wasn't just cooked a few minutes ago. There are times I feel like the food was just kinda thrown together to get the order out and didn't have the love and pride of making food for people to enjoy put into it. For the price - I feel like they could step it up in the kitchen - and take a little more consideration when putting entrees together. I really don't like to give unfavorable reviews to vegan places - because they are so far and few In between and we need more of them - but I feel like so many of them I go to sometimes ride on the coattails of being able to cater to an audience that will pay premium for healthy foods - but don't really cater in the sense of making sure it's awesome every time. After the third visit - my vegan dining companion looked at me and said "I really don't think I like their food" which bummed us both out.

Been to a couple of vegan/vegetarian places and I have to say, this place is pretty good for my taste buds. Give it a 5 for the friendly customer service, good food, and cause I'll keep on coming back to try out new things here. I just get tired of fast food so why not eat at a place where they have plenty of veggies and legumes, whole grains. Im not vegan nor vegetarian, but decent quality matters to me . hope you all give it a try :)

I love the food here and love that there is finally a good vegetarian/vegan restaurant near us. The watermelon juice is a must! This place is packed weekday afternoons so I tend to order online and then pick up to avoid the lines. They need to work a little on their service...they have a separate line for phone-in and online orders but I always tend to feel a bit ignored by staff. The pastrami is great but I would recommend eating it there...it gets soggy very quickly and is not that great when you get it to go. The native fries are yummy and the aztec salad is another favorite. There are so many options that there is something for everyone.

First let me say that I'm sort of a flexitarian, I like to eat vegan, vegetarian, but will also eat animal products in moderation. I ordered the Chicken Run Ranch Burger with native fries. The faux chicken burger was thick and fried and the burger sandwich in general was bland and flavorless. The fries were good. I also ordered the hibiscus/blueberry iced tea which was definitely in need of some type of sweetener. I'll probably try something else if I go again .. but I can't say I want to run back there for a meal.

I first heard of this place's name from a posting a friend made who's been a vegan for about 6 years (hi, Ro!). I just couldn't remember where the locations were. Noticed one up on Balboa near the Panera when I went to Blaze's pi day special. It seemed fairly busy so I wanted to give one of them a shot soon. Since I'm trying to follow a diet where I'm trying to limit dairy and animal products, plus been curious of other protein sources such as seitan or tempeh, I wanted to get a lunch from here some day. I frequent PL often so I looked up its location and saw it was where the Sprouts was as well. From the yelp page and online menu, I was planning on getting either a brown rice curry bowl or one of the kale salads. I also am trying to limit the amount of white potato or flour products as well. However, the sign outside with the daily special being some type of bacon cheeseburger, I was thinking, okay I need to try this out, and like in the descriptions from the cards inside, and oh yes, the first cashier I spoke to (If I read my receipt correctly, his name might've been Michael), the place is a plant-based fast casual vegan place, so hmm, what's their non-meat versions of bacon and the umm, beef or seitan patty like? So the special comes with a free regular side as well. Since I did have kale earlier for a quick salad, I gave in and chose native fries. I had to get my order to go and cut, plus oh yes, the board outside mentioned some type of Jamaican thing as the soup of the day (I can't remember its name, sorry!), but it was some type of green curry and I was offered a small ramekin of it to try out while I waited. Oh yes, and for the guest in line ahead of me and myself, since we were first timers, this guy offered to start a rewards card for us and with it a free beverage cup to try out what they have to offer. That was pretty cool since a drink is about $2.75 and free refills. I was given a plastic to go cup. I read reviews on the lavender lemonade so I definitely was going to try some, though also I'm trying to limit any added sugars in drinks or foods. Loved that lavender lemonade, I was thinking wow nice balance between the two flavors and it wasn't some weird artificial taste like say, Minute Maid ones you might try at another fast food joint. I believe that has organic sugar to sweeten it. I tried maybe 2 other of their brewed beverages, the watermelon fresco I believe is the name, with mint and agave which was totally refreshing as well, plus the unsweetened citrus green tea. Maybe that green tea should've been the only one (besides the water) I should've stuck to but well, you know, I did order something with starches I was trying to limit, and it was a new place for me, so I had to sample a bit here and there some of the beverages being on the house instead of almost 3 bucks. I received my order in a carrier bag and well, since you kinda know how traffic is getting out of that shopping center onto Rosecrans, I still wanted to sit a while, and yes was taking my time sipping on some refreshments (and had to use the restroom again since I accidentally didn't close a ketchup or sriracha cup and made it spill on my foot. The staff was pretty understanding and kind about it though when I told them I got a bunch of ketchup on the tiles and my foot). Had a few fries from my to go box and glad they weren't overly salty. Well, I got a bit too relaxed in the dining area so I kinda sit a bit too long that when I left the restaurant to share my burger and fries they weren't so warm. I had only half of the sandwich, so it wasn't giving me that heavy or overstuffed feeling one usually gets from too much meat and carbs. I can't recall exactly the flavors of the seitan or bbq sauce, one reason being since I didn't draft a review the day of when I ate, but that too wasn't so heavy or saucy, so I felt almost no guilt or regret eating it, except for maybe the bun, probably not a whole grain but well it was a light airy bun which I believe was whole wheat. I would definitely like to try another dish in the future. Most of the dishes are priced to almost ten bucks, though, so it's a bit on the high side to me, but then again it is a plant-based restaurant with many organic ingredients, so freshness and quality tie into the pricing. I had great service. There were a few customers coming in to dine, so it was kinda odd of how spacious it seemed but it was still a peaceful environment and staff aren't rowdy or anything. I'll try one of those dishes I originally planned to soon. I suggest that if they open more locations across the states, put one up in NLV or Yuma since I have family and friends near those cities. I believe their other ones are in Chicago, OC and maybe 2 other states. Thanks again for a great new experience so far.

Good food thrills at the no kill restaruant. We weren't searching out a vegetarian meal, we just happened to stumble in while looking for lunch. After a little holiday shopping we wanted to grab a bite. There were quite a few selections in our immediate vicinity and I was secretly hoping the wife would forget about eating healthy and suggest Wing Stop. But, then we saw what looked like a new addition to the area (could have been there for months for all we knew). But it had a shiny new sign (I like shiny), lots of seating outside and an interesting menu. My wife pointed out that they had buffalo style wings, so I was up for it. Inside it is very light and open. They also had some fun art hanging on the wall. When we went to the counter to order, the girl taking our order helpfully pointed out that EVERYTHING is plant based. No chicken in my chicken wings?? WTF? I'd been bamboozled! Well played wife, well played... Still, I went for the buffalo wings. I've found you can drown most things with buffalo sauce and make them edible. The wife had a crispy "chicken" sandwich with "bacon" and avocado. We both ordered a very refreshing watermelon drink. They have several different options of tea type beverages with free refills. I tried a few and they were all very good, and it was nice to have something besides soda. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the food came out pretty fast. I gotta say that I was very impressed. The wings were boneless of course, and had a surprisingly meat-like texture. The sauce was very good and I didn't actually need the extra sauce I ordered to drown out any plant flavors. Wife, really enjoyed her sandwich and it too was an excellent analog for meat. It was all really really good and came with the added bonus, that some poor animal didn't have to die for us to stuff our faces. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoy meat but I do try to avoid it when I can. Native Foods Cafe will make it much easier. We will definitely be going back.

*Vegetarians & Vegans: Do not sleep on this place* Barbecue "Brisket" Sandwich with Cole Slaw, Buffalo "Chicken Wings", French Fries and Lavender Lemonade. The only thing I would do different is toss the Chicken wings (More like fried strips) in the buffalo sauce, but they were awesome. This place is banging as all hell for Vegetarians, and non-vegetarians seem to have good things to say as well. My Vegan homies eat here ritually. This place is addicting!

We've been a fan of Native Foods for a while now but visits have been limited to when we happen to be up in or near Encinitas. It's great one has opened up in San Diego! The menu has a great selection of fresh items and I love that they have specials. Today, for example, I tried the Cinco de Mayo meal and whoa! It'd be awesome if this could become a regular menu item! The meal consisted of taquitos filled with seitan asada, spicy beans and potato hash, served alongside black beans, Mexican rice, guacamole and salsa fresca. Aside from the specials, their menu items include appetizers, burgers, wraps, salads, bowls, desserts -- they even have a kids menu so there's sure to be something appealing to everyone. They also have a program where you earn rewards and discounts so take advantage and sign up for that!

A fool and his money are soon parted... at Native Foods Cafe. If you're into being a fake hippy, listening to Dave Matthews, and have too much money to spend on food, you'll love this place. I just ordered their lunch special, which is supposed to be an affordable alternative, and it was $11.82 after tax, with NO drink! The tortilla on the twister wrap looked big but was barely filled, and left me hungry. I can't spend $11.82 on lunch, not be filled up, and not get a drink. I've eaten there at least 10 times, used my rewards card every time, and all I got was a drink for signing up. The "rewards" card is useless. The free drink isn't worth the wasted plastic and wallet space. Native Foods is close to my work and I eat out for lunch every day. Their food is good. Their service is better. I just can't take a price hike. The sweet potato fries are delicious, and they used to come free with the special, but now they are $1.00 more. The only good value there is the nachos, but I feel weird after I eat them every time. The standard lunches and the lunch "specials" are just too expensive. I'm willing to pay more for healthy food, but can't go this far. Bye, Native Foods.

My daughter and I were delightfully surprised and well fed at Native Food Cafe in Point Loma. Their Super Meatball Sub and the Thai Meatball Bowl were delicious. The quality service, tasty plant based menu and commitment to our planet are noteworthy. We will definitely return to try other sumptuous dishes.

Definitely will be back to try other dishes at Native Foods Cafe! Still so impressed by how non-meat can look and taste like meat! The curry bowl and chicken wrap are definitely worth a try. And the drinks, talk about refreshing! Lemonade with lavender = yum!

Pretty good, but the flavors aren't entirely on point. They aren't bad, but it's missing something. 4 stars simply because the concept is good and now I don't have to drive to ob or downtown/ hillcrest for veggie food. You guys need to get a cilantro sauce!! It will change everything!

This place is great if you eat gluten free and vegan! They have healthy choices and very cool drinks. I tried the curry with the kale, and I enjoyed it but I probably wouldn't get it again, probably because I do eat gluten and meat :P Only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the customer service. The female cashier I had was super annoying and slightly awkward. It's cool if you're awkward, no problem, but she was sneaky. After we made our order, she asked if we wanted to add either a soup, salad or something of that sort, I thought it was included with the entree, so I ordered a soup. It wasn't until after she gave me the total that I realized they charged extra. She never disclosed that price for adding the soup, nor did she mention it was a side. Ok, you may be thinking, "What idiot orders an additional item, not knowing it would cause extra?" Well believe it or not, MOST places would say would you like to add on side or so and so for $1.95? But she didn't say anything, and I got confused because the menu was kinda sorta all over the place. FINE. CHARGE ME EXTRA FOR THE SOUP, BUT MAKE SURE YOU TELL US NEXT TIME! Second annoying thing she did was force us to sign up for the rewards program. I wish I remembered her name, so you guys could avoid her, but she is just a blip on the radar. Better luck next time... or hopefully she doesn't work there anymore...

I visit here as often as possible. I am a little disappointed in the daily specials being nixed. Not cool :( Not enjoying how they make you pay more for the nacho toppings. Not cool. But I still love it here.

I am so happy that this location has opened. For vegans, it is awesome to be able to go in and order anything you want from the menu (and I think they have gluten-free if you request). All meals I've gotten taste great and the employees are really, really nice. I've ordered at the restaurant, used their online order/pre-pay option and called ahead for pick-up and all methods went smoothly. The online order was definitely the best - just walk up to a separate area of the counter and your order is ready at the time you specify. My favorite item so far were the polenta bites on the starters menu. Also, they have a great rewards card - you get a free drink when you sign up, then a free dessert when you register your card account online, birthday credits, etc. Even if you are totally frightened of any place vegan/plant-based/animal-product-free, you should still try it here. Awesome food! :)

Amazing food! Went with a vegetarian friend on Saturday for lunch, a few days after their opening. Food was amazing, both in terms of presentation and taste. First time at any Native Foods restaurant for both of us. I had what might have been a mundane "Bangkok Curry Bowl", my friend tried the "Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger." The tofu in the curry bowl had been delightfully seared to a firm texture, and the curry was mildly sweet, light, and punctuated by cilantro; Yum. I sampled the cheeseburger, and it had the best vegan bacon and "beef" I have tried. Prices are moderate, but you will be served with real ceramic plates, metal utensils, and real glasses (not Styrofoam and plastic). I wish them the best, judging from the large number of patrons, success seems likely. We will be back.

If you are looking for a vegetarian place that is fast, inexpensive and delicious this place is great. This is one of the only vegan restaurants that I can bring anyone to and they will find something they love. The desserts are amazing and the kids menu is well thought out. The sandwiches and salads are healthy and you will leave full or with leftovers. A few tips: It may look packed, but people cycle through pretty quickly so don't let the line scare you. If you made it through the scary parking lot situation with the crazy HomeGoods shoppers, don't give up now. The daily soups are made of magic. The pb parfait may be the best thing that has happened to me this month and it is gluten free, so I can pretend it is super healthy. We are excited for the new Balboa location which will hopefully reduce the lines in PL.

They opened one of these up just down the road from my dorm and we go here all the time! Like, four or five times a week. They have such a big menu and really good side items to mix and match with sandwiches that we don't get bored with the choices. My sister is picky and she loves the vegetarian items! Everything I've tried, which is basically most of the menu, is very flavorful and good for our price range!

Excellent menu choices. Great food selections with fresh veggies, and healthy to boot! The veggies were , Crunchy, and seasoned flavorfully. The sauce was just delightful. Oh and fan customer service too. The tofu strips were nice and seasoned but a little bit chewy. Overall, really enjoyed the meal and will be back again soon.

So glad my coworker suggested I try this out! Healthy food costs a bit more so let's get past that. Service each time has been great, very friendly and informational. The girl helped me begin the free rewards program card as well. I've had the Fall In Love salad twice with blackened tempeh as well as tofu. Loved it each time. I've had the chicken wings with blue cheese dip... I'm not a true vegan so this wasn't an exact dupe for the real thing but worth a try. I always get the minty watermelon agua fresca, yum yum. Lastly highly recommend the key lime pie. This is the first key lim item I have liked, plus i am a big fan of tofu based cheesecake over the real thing. Do it!! Oh did i mention the reward card got me a free drink on my first visit AND free dessert on my second. Awesome.

Pricey but worth it. Great, healthy food. Clean location. Garlic fries have great flavor and not overly salty. Only bad thing is I never see a calorie count. I had unbreaded chicken wings (they look like strips) and garlic fries. Soooo tasty

Our last visit this past Friday evening was disappointing when we learned they have completely changed their menu, and removed multiple items we love and make special stops in for ie OC raw chopper and the glorious Oatmeal Cream Pie :( If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Delicious ; I was not aware of what this place even was, the name/sign is not very descriptive of what type of food this is. It is an all natural vegan/vegitarian restaurant with amazing Ice Tea's. I tried the Soul Bowl and holy cow (no pun intended) it was good, it is tough to believe this is a vegetarian dish. Try this place, it is excellent. I will be back.

Our definite go to for lunch or dinner at least once a week. I am usually not a big meat alternative person, as I prefer just amazing vegan food not trying to be anything else, but Native Foods won my heart. The flavors are amazing, the portions generous, and the ingredients fresh. All you can drink watermelon mint water too!

I held off on writing this review for 10 months. 10 months to allow for growing pains, hiccups, and a new location... However I can no longer stifle my profound frustration and disappointment with my experiences here. I used to frequent the Native Foods Café anytime I visited Palm Springs and was beyond excited to discover that San Diego was obtaining its own location. I stalked the website and location for months prior counting down the days until they would be open for business. Needless to say, I went to the restaurant with high expectations. Not only were my expectations not exceeded, they were not met. Based on my experiences in Palm Springs, I really loved this establishment. Consequently, my expectations were high. I have experienced an issue each time I have visited and since I adore Native Foods, I initially (and naively) thought that it was simply growing pain and that the issues would be resolved. After months of similar incidents, I feel the need to voice my dispute. As you can see from my order history, I have visited regularly in the past 10 months: Date/Time Location Total 2/16/2015 $13.93 2/5/2015 $47.90 1/28/2015 $47.95 12/10/2014 $10.75 11/21/2014 $13.93 11/20/2014 $39.37 11/13/2014 $3.13 10/31/2014 $41.69 10/30/2014 $20.36 10/24/2014 $35.26 10/21/2014 $10.75 10/20/2014 $16.90 10/7/2014 $13.93 10/2/2014 $22.52 9/29/2014 $13.93 9/24/2014 $13.93 9/22/2014 $13.93 9/16/2014 $13.93 9/2/2014 $4.21 8/22/2014 $32.13 8/7/2014 $13.93 8/2/2014 $26.30 7/26/2014 $16.09 7/25/2014 $18.79 7/18/2014 $11.72 7/18/2014 $13.93 6/19/2014 $11.83 5/27/2014 $24.19 5/15/2014 $9.61 5/15/2014 $28.67 5/14/2014 $23.65 My concerns revolve around two primary areas, food preparation and service. Regarding the latter, there were times when I have had to repeat my order to the cashier three times after waiting in a long line and it still was not accurately recorded. As for the former, my order has been incorrect in some way EVERY SINGLE time. Either items are missing or they aren't prepared the way requested. After from my first few experiences, I learned to scrutinize my order before leaving. When it (inevitably) gets sent back to the kitchen I typically end up waiting another 20-25 minutes for my food. One particular visit, after waiting an additional 30 minutes I was frustrated to discover that my order was STILL not prepared correctly. I am saddened and irritated that the establishment that I formerly raved about has regularly neglected to live up to their previously high standards of service and quality. I wanted to believe that the first few recent experiences were rare aberrations from their usual high levels of service and food quality. Unfortunately, the experiences have only gotten worse over time. And while I do love the food - it's delicious - the annoyance isn't worth it. Hence why I visit less and less these days. One of the last times I decided to order food from there, I called my order in and the person on the phone was having trouble hearing me so I started speaking slower to ensure that my order would be properly transmitted...she had the audacity to snap "can you hurry up? We are really busy." Unbelievable. And so incredibly rude. I understand that lunch rushes happen, but being snippy with customers is inappropriate. It is even more disheartening that even after these mistakes were brought to the attention of the management, there was never a single attempt to "make it right" or offer to refund any portion of the incorrect orders. I am a reasonable person and a loyal customer. I provided ample opportunity for Native Foods to right their wrongs. There was not a single attempt to fix the mistakes - even when the manager addressed the fact that they keep getting my order wrong. Umm - then DO SOMETHING about it. I really hate saying anything negative about a place I used to really love...but the truth of the matter is, i've been disappointed more often than not and i'm tired of it.

excuse my language but holy shit...this place! I honestly wasn't expecting it to be as amazing as it was! we got nachos, a chikn burger & buffalo wings and everything was full of flavor, wonder and delight. haha, just kidding about the last 2 but really! Customer service was awesome, the place was bright and clean, and there was vegan art all over the walls, yes! Also, they pair up with farm sanctuary to do a "turkey adoption" during thanksgiving time. This place has my full and undivided attention and support. Oh lastly, I bought their cook book and oh my word, drool!

I have been to other Native Foods locations and had a great experience. My experience at Point Loma as a first time visitor was very disappointing. I was so excited to eat here...I ordered my usual: Portobello and Sausage Burger Juicy grilled portobellos, our homemade Native Sausage Seitan, caramelized onions, pomodoro, sweet roasted garlic, creamy pumpkin seed pesto and mayo. I could barely eat it, it was so bad. My bun (which I had asked to get toasted) was soggy and mushy. The sausage was bland and half cooked. Overall, it tasted like a bland, mushy, unappetizing thing. I have never ever had that experience at any of the other Native Foods and order this dish often. The sweet potato fries that I ordered were also mushy and disappointing. The service from cashier to the waitstaff was also disappointing and showed they were poorly trained. Maybe I went on an off day and will definitely give them another shot, but very unimpressed with my first visit.

All vegan- hard to find!! Food combinations are unique. It would be nice if it was in a better location and closer to the beach but the food is good and staff is nice enough.

We did takeout this go around. I was a little disappointed to see the Reuben was no longer on the menu but decided to try the Chicken Run Ranch. It was just as delicious. My only knock here is that staff have been programmed to up sell you into buying extras/drinks even when you clearly say you don't want them. But they do it with a smile so I guess that makes it OK...?

Deja vu McDonalds (fast and fattening food)? OK, serious reality check, why did I look at the calories and take the fun and excitement out of everything that I like to pork out on at this place? The food is really good but it is not very healthy like the restaurant implies in the advertising. The other night, while I was waiting for my food, I made the BIG mistake of looking online at the 750 calories in my Soul Bowl and 20 grams of fat (WOW and DARN!) Today, I ordered the Portobello and Sausage Burger (not the fries) and saw online it has 758 Calories and 40 grams of fat. Add my two Lavender Lemonades for another 250 and I hit the magic 1,012 calories in just one meal! :-(

Wow. This place is fantastic. Please bring all of your Omni friends and family here. I brought my great aunt here today and spent the whole time talking about how going plant-based is so very healthy, not to mention how beneficial it is to the environment. Thanks to Native Foods Cafe for helping demonstrate how easy it is to make "weird hippie vegan food" taste so great!! My kids had the Mac and fries, my great aunt had the "chicken tenders", and I had the Mexican Cobb. So delicious! We had the brownie parfait and a chocolate chip cookie to celebrate my two-year-old's birthday and we devoured both! Scrumptious! The space is vibrant, the staff is sweet and helpful, and we even got free food offered to us! A bacon burger of some kind with avocado on it. So delicious! Please eat here as often as possible and do yourself, the animals, and the environment a favor!

LOVE this place!!! It's the first place in San Diego that I found that is all plan based food!! I'm obsessed with this place, I could eat here every day. I've had the chicken sandwiches, burgers, quinoa bowls, desserts, soups and drinks and everything has been outstanding! Staff is really nice and servers are fast! I love the loyalty card so we can get freebies with our points! So far I've gotten free drinks, free desserts, and $10 for my birthday! Being vegetarian this place is a dream come true! I hope they continue with the great ingredients but most important with the same philosophy about food quality and ethics. We're traveling to Chicago and I found out there's one there so I can't wait to try it! Hope they open more and more of this place so vegetarianism can be better understood!

What a great experience. :) I received a gift car from my yoga studio after class and decided o try it since it was so close! ( And I didn't have any food at my house) lol.... I went to order my food and the girl asked if it was my first time dining with them. I told her it was she welcomed me (Great customer service!) Then I proceeded to ask her what her soup of the day was and she offered a sample f there Moroccan lentil. it was good but not what I was craving. but I appreciated the gesture. I asked her what her favorite was between two differed entrees. She told me the Oc Raw chopper was her favorite so I ordered it.. as well as a side of sweet potato fries for a 1.95 up charge. :) awesome deal! :) well I think it was 1.95 .... something close to that.. well anyways. She signed me up for there rewards program and I got a free drink which I was super excited about! The have fresh drinks made by Native! NO SODA!! Praise the lord! :) I hate soda and always wished there was more option... this place has it! I OBVIOUSL TRIED EVERY SINGLE ONE... LOL. my favorites are Lavender Lemonade. the watermelon. and the organic green tea! When I finished trying every single juice/tea I decided on a mixture of lavender lemonade and organic green tea. ( the lavender lemonade and watermelon are sweetened by agave just fyi) also another note,,,, FREE REFILLS!!! BOOM! your mind just got blown. Back to the food.... I sat down and saw a girl carrying a huge salad bowl and a bowl of sweet potato fries....I was scared. She was walking toward me an set all the food in front of me. OMG. that salad was huge! So I thanked her and she offered ranch and chipotle aioli for the sweet potato fries. I obviously said yes.... It was so good!!! The salad was so fresh and raw.. the sweet potato fries where cooked to perfection an seasoned so well! :) I was a happy camper! and HAD LUNCH FOR THE Next DAY TOO! Long story short.... for 13 dollars you can have pretty much two meals. That is if you like quality food, vegan, and fresh. :) Enjoy!

I am a Carnivore, never did I imagine Vegan food to taste this good! Buffalo Chicken wings, don't know why their called chicken wings when they look like chicken strips but WHAAAAAAAT THE KRAP... dip it in buffalo sauce and it tastes just like CHICKEN! Grilled Chicken wrap with a side of sweet potato fries, LOTS of flavor to it so I couldn't really tell what the chicken tasted like because the sauce took over. The sweet potato fries were ON POINT with some green seasoning they sprinkle on top!! Oh tip, dip the sweet potato in the buffalo sauce!! THE OATMEAL CREME PIE IS A DONE DEAL !!!!!!!! Would go there just for that. All in all, I signed up for their rewards card and I never take time to do anything like that. PLUS the service was on point +++

San Diego is graced with an abundance of remarkable vegetarian / vegan food places. This spot is amazing. Big, giant portions of amazing salads, soups and bottomless healthy drinks. A dream come true in vegan fast casual. Possibly the friendliest, best-teamwork oriented, best trained and motivated restaurant staff on the planet. Must, must must expand. To Austin next!

Finally! A vegan restaurant even my non-vegetarian husband enjoys. Everything was tasty, healthy & filling. The vibe the night we went was hip; we were the only ones who seemed to be over 30, but maybe that's because we went past 9:30 at night. A lively, happy full restaurant. I had a really delicious item: the special nightly soup, African Peanut, and I while cannot eat capsaicin (jalapeños & other hot chiles) this was spicy but not too hot. Toppped with cilantro & some chopped peanuts, very satisfying. I also had the Portobello & sausage (seitan) burger with caramelized onions. Unlike other vegan, but not especially healthy restaurant chains I've visited, the bun was wheat, not white, and delicious. I never had seitan before and it tasted just OK, not a great texture, but the mushrooms & onions overcame that. Comes with the meatless territory I guess. My husband liked his chicken (not real) bacon & avocado sub on multi-grain ciabatta with a side of seasoned fries & side salad (which was boring; included nothing unusual). Overall he liked his meal way more than he expected. Also the watermelon juice was great. I will definitely be going there again. We need more of these places around. I'm not vegan - healthy/humane? - but it's still difficult to find places without cruelly-treated meat sources, organic food, and interesting recipes using sustainable, local products.

I've been coming to Native Foods about once a week for the past few months, I love their food and the ease of ordering it brings to vegans. I've always been impressed with the selection on the menu, and the staff is always ready to answer questions and offer suggestions. The Nachos are phenomenal, and the Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger is delicious and filling. I recently had the Buffalo Chicken Wing appetizers and they were crispy and delicious. My suggestion for sandwiches is the Chicken Run Ranch, and request the chicken be tossed in buffalo sauce, it's really yummy! Vegan or not, you should check out Native Foods!

This place was the worst $29 ever spent in my life. I was so hungry and everything on the menu sounded great... Until we went to order and were informed everything was made out of plants... So my boyfriends BBQ bacon cheese burger, yeah made out of plants and awful. My twisted chicken wrap, awful. I have to admit I had no idea this was a strictly vegan restaurant. It should be better advertised. The menu should be more clear because its on the back that chicken=soy and plant based only, ect.. I won't ever be back and now I'm not in the mood for health food and I'm eating panda express. Haha

Large vegan selection in Point Loma. Really good "American" vegan dishes - mostly your traditional vegan burgers and fries type fare.

I'm neither vegan nor vegetarian, nor do I care about the environment whatsoever. But, this place was magnificent. First of all, staff is super friendly. Being my first time in here, I had no idea what was going on. The friendly staff helped me with any questions I had and they were quick with the service as well. The food. Wow. Who knew that eating no meat could be so satisfying. I got a salad and it was HUGE. Super filling and extremely satisfying. My friend had what they called the chicken sandwich and all I could think was, "Wow, I can't believe it's NOT chicken!" Finally, my last bit of wisdom is about the drinks. DO NOT GET WATER. They make their own juices and wild stuff like that. I didn't drink the teas because I'm a huge fan of high fructose corn syrup, and the tea didn't have any of that in there. But, I did have both the watermelon and lemonade juices and I am pretty confident in saying that they were the best juices I have ever had in my 22 years of existence. I'll be coming back for sure. And since you yelpers care so much to hear this, yes, it's reasonably priced.

Every time I come here I fall more and more in love. I am so happy this is in Point Loma. Coming from a person who avoids driving Rosecrans at all costs, I will only make an exception to come to Native Foods because it is just that unique and good. No matter what I'm in the mood for, there is always something on the menu that calls to me!! Plus, the cashiers are super friendly!!

My older son, who once fancied himself as an Officiando of Japanese Ramen and Sushi, now lives in San Diego, and has become an Officiando of all these things Vegan and healthy, unless his fiance is serving red meat that night. He selected this place in consideration because I didn't want to eat a fatening burger. Lesson; just because it's not red meat, doesn't mean it is not fattening. My younger son and I both chose the Southwest Chicken Salad, based on a server's suggesetion. It was just ok, but at least I hoped it wasn't bagged lettuce. The Officianado choose the Giant "bomb" wrap, accompanied by Sweet Potato Fries, and a Penut Butter Parfait for desert. I tried some of his wrap, and I did not like it. He almost hit my hand when I tried to steal a Sweet Potato Fry, so I can't tell you how they are. He gave me a taste of the parfait, and it was too sweet, and reminded me of instant Jello pudding. Truthfully; it left me hungry, and my younger son and I "hit" the sampling at Costco to complete our meal. It was actually better than our lunches. Bottom line: This is a great place to hang out if you are a genuine or pseudo vegan. Great for a young college person that wants to look environmentally correct, or a middle aged man trying to look like a college kid in order to meet one. The taste is better than your fast food places, but don't count on lower calories, and for sure, bring your wallet. Lunch for 3 cost me $42.00. Great place to go if you want to look hip, trendy, or just plain old environmentally correct for a first lunch date to set that "free spirit" mood before heading to Black's Beach for a day in the sun.

We've been here three times now and have yet to be disappointed. I've had the blackened tacos, which were very good, though I don't remember which protein was included. It was well-prepared and like everything here, very fresh. The Thai Curry Bowl was tasty and very filling, with loads of grilled veggies, steamed kale and brown rice with strips of tofu that were seasoned to my satisfaction. The first time I was there I had the scorpion burger, which I will definitely order again as it was a winner. The desserts we've shared have been the oatmeal creme sandwich, which is pretty much like it sounds - two large oatmeal cookies with a vanilla creme center. Pretty damn good. The peanut butter parfait didn't win me over - I found it had an artificial taste to it, though my gf loved it. The place isn't cheap, but good food rarely is. The bowls are definitely large enough for a good meal with no need for a side, though if you get one, we loved the Saigon roll. The staff appears to be new but they're very friendly and helpful. The place has a lot of seating, though it'll probably be filled at peak hours. The parking lot is huge and should never be an issue. I do still love my carnivorous excursions, but it's nice to have a place like this to hit up on occasion.

I've been here twice. The first time I came I didn't know it was vegan & omg they have really good. If I could eat there everyday I would seriously turn vegan. I've tried the soul bowl & the only thing was it needed more flavor. There lemonade is to die for ! The second time I tried there nachos, really good as we'll. the only thing we told the lady if we could get ranch & she never brought it . There sweet potato fries are crispy & bomb. They just over seasoned mine. There PB parfait best thing I've ever had ! Really recommend this spot.

I love, love, love Native Foods. I have introduced this place to many meat eaters and all have enjoyed it and returned for more. The Native Nachos and the Twister wrap are my faves. I am not a big fan of seitan but they won me over with their Classic Deli Reuben. The Macro bowl is a tasty, healthy stand by. Desserts and drinks are always good and the service is always friendly and timely. I have only had one thing there that I did not enjoy and that was the Portobello and Sausage Burger, it was dry and sad. It was fine because I filled up on their yummy lemon potato dill salad...delish! Vegas needs a Native Foods badly!

After my third time trying Native Foods, I just had to write a review. Every time I come to this location, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The first time I went here I was unsure of what to get and they were very helpful. I have also introduced my friends and family to this place and the staff are always willing to help out with questions about the menu. I'm not much of a Vegan but the food has always been delicious and healthy. I keep wanting to come back and try something new. The atmosphere is great and the service is exceptional. I really feel welcomed every time I enter the building. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Great vibe, great service, and great food!

HANDS DOWN the best restaurant in San Diego. I was actually considering moving out of dumpy Point Loma and no joke since Native Foods moved in, I may not. The most DELICIOUS, well thought out menu, and fantastic restaurant. Seriously whoever in Palm Springs created this idea PAT ON THE BACK MY FRIEND! I am so grateful that you came to Point Loma, I only got the rare treat of eating here when I was in north county. Seriously has improved the quality of my life. This place is great even for non vegan, AND non veggie heads the food is incredible, and lovely staff. Thank GOODNESS for business like this, they make the world a better place! Have to try: Native Chicken Wings, and Southwest Chipotle Salad. I can't help but have to comment on the 3 star review from animal whatever. To everyone who reads that. Native Foods IS NOT FAST FOOD, it is casual dining- what is the difference you ask? Have you been to Tender Greens? Similar. Native Foods has their OWN closed off patio area, this is not a McDonald's parking lot. A. You shouldn't ever bring food from outside areas into another restaurant, that's a societal norm, and B. Native Foods clearly by not allowing this not only shows integrity, but that you will not be interrupted while dinning by ghetto people using their patio as community picnic bench.

I've been addicted to Native Foods since their Encinitas location opened. Now that they're in Point Loma, I can easily eat my way through the menu. My all time fave is the Native Nachos! I can't finish the plate, that's how ginormous it is. The watermelon agua fresca is easily downable also. Today I had the reuben with a side salad and inhaled in in less than 2 minutes!

This place is a vegan's DREAM come true! It is still, however great for meat-eaters as well. I have been several times and have brought friends with me on a few occasions who eat meat and LOVED everything they tasted. Native Foods makes their "meats", sauces and "cheeses" in-house and you can taste the difference. Every time I go, I order something different, slowly working my way through their extensive menu. I have yet to order a disappointing dish. Their desserts are also divine. The oatmeal cream pie is a real standout. The service here is great as well. You order and pay at the counter, get a number and runners bring you your food and utensils. The food always comes so quickly. Even though you don't have a designated server, employees come around to make sure that you have everything you need and are happy to bring you extra condiments, etc. Native Foods has become my favorite casual food joint.

Native Foods is definitely a place to bring your carnivore family to try a taste of vegan food. If you are vegan like me, you know how hard it is to be able to enjoy a meal with your family out. The food is delicious to say te least. The "meat" has a great texture and seasoning. The variety of types of food are awesome, from Mexican to curry. It is a casual setting that makes you feel so comfortable. Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful as well. I love it and I will continue to bring new people to try it.

I am an unabashed meat-eater and everything I eat usually has some kind of animal protein in it. With that said, I am always open to trying different things. I have been to this place a couple times and tried the Bistro "steak" Sandwich and Oklahoma "bacon burger".. Both sandwiches have been extremely tasty and flavorful. The texture of the meat subsitute is great and you never feel like the food is an imitation of anything. I also tried their soup, and some asian style wrap appetizer, and their carrot cake cupcake. I'm not sure how they make this stuff without animal products, and I really dont care. The stuff is super tasty and the prices arent bad either. Portions are also pretty large so you will be full when done with your meal. BOTTOM LINE: Vegan or not.. This is good food.

Cute Place! I just love trying new places and especially a dairy free place. Very friendly and fun atmosphere. out all the food I tried the Vegan nachos was my least favorite. I enjoyed the strawberry parfait and the Oklahoma burger w/ fries. I will be back to try something different but nothing beats the Watermelon fesca...that is a must have! I could not give it 5 stars because of how difficult it is too get to this location from getting off the freeway. It's a mad house on the road not sure because it was Saturday or the time of year with all the tourist. Overall I will be back for sure to try something new on the menu!

I loved the extensive Vegan menu, which was not just limited to salads and cold selections, which is tends to be the case in lots of Vegan cafes. I love the hot food selections such as..The Soul bowl , Butternut polenta bites, among others. The Azteca salad was good, however It would have been better with a better selection of lettuces..( was mostly ice-berg and romaine ) The Vegan chocolate cupcakes were divine and piled high with delicious creamy chocolate frosting. I'm looking forward to returning and eating my way through their menu!

Was invited for private pre-opening dinner. Brought some non-vegan friends to join in the celebration of the new store. The food really impressed them. They were really pleased with the unique flavors that Native Foods has become known for. They plan to become regulars. I am glad that this new location opened since it is near my work. We do not live close to any of their locations but go out of our way for their great food and great service. Keep up the good work and we will keep bringing new customers.

I love the food here. I find their intolerance offensive, however. I was so excited about this place opening but my first chance to do so was with a work group. It is situated In a large shopping complex with other eateries and as we often do as a group for fast food dining, we planned to meet up at the patio of where the majority want to go. Native foods did not welcome us, however, because one friend had non vegan food. Instead we were all welcomed next door at the pick up stix patio. This is not smart. Will they next be excluding everyone who wears leather shoes?? This is fast food, outside patio seating I'm referring to-they have indoor seating too-but when we are a mixed group we respectfully sit outside so we can all enjoy our respective food choices/needs. It felt discriminatory-the opposite of what we expected. Open minded food but not minds. Bummer.

Thank you Cory, (the manager) for being unresponsive and rude. The only good thing this place has going is the nice waitress/busser and the watermelon fresca. The food is bland and has no taste. We had a couple things that we shared as a group, and I 100% will not come back. I'm hoping you teach your manager how to respond to customers that aren't happy. Ignoring them is not the way to do that.

I've been going to Native Foods for years and I'm happy to report that the food at this location is just as good as at the others. I've only had a bad experience once but that's a story for a different review. Anyway, for something delicious and hearty, the nachos are great! I love the soul bowl, sweet potato fries and the Oklahoma burger. I usually go to NF for comfort food so I've never had the salads but I'm sure they're amazing, too.

Love this place! I wasn't too sure what to except from this place seeing that I haven't really eaten seitan or tempeh in the past, but this place really made me go crazy for more vegan/vegetarian food. I recently became a vegetarian, so I'm still in that phase where I'm craving for substitute/mock meats as a protein source. This place definitely filled those cravings! Entrees I've ordered: Portobello mushroom and seitan sausage burger - favorite thing on the menu so far! I did not except this burger to taste just as good or even better than a burger with a beef patty. Meatball sandwich - Pretty good dish. Really tasted like an actual meatball sub. I want to say that the consistency of the "meatballs" reminded me of falafels. So that might be a plus for you falafel fans. Other than that, if you're looking for some Italian vegan goodness, definitely go for this one. Drinks: My favorite of their drinks is the Lavender Lemonade. I guess I'm just a fan of lemony/citrus drinks. Second favorite is the peach tea with some lemon and mint leaves. Id say it's sweet but not too sweet, if you're looking for a drink as close to the raspberry iced tea in the fountain drinks of other restaurants The watermelon juice was bit hard for me to get acquainted with. It was actually the first drink there that I tried. It sort of tastes as if you sucked out all the juice of a watermelon into your cup - 2/3 water, 1/3 watermelon flavor. The service here is really great and unique! It is a fast food style restaurant but the employees do come out to not just give you your order but also serve you as well. Love this place! Really glad I got the rewards card because I definitely plan on come here more often!

I love this place. I'm not a vegetarian, nonetheless a Vegan, but I appreciate healthy fare and wanted to give this quick spot a try, and I've been back many times since. I've ordered almost every bowl off of the menu and always get sauce on the side. The sauces are hearty (fatty?) and the steamed veges are indeed plain as some of the reviews mention, but I like that- I can use as little or as much sauce as I want, and I know that I'm not getting non-oily, overly salted steamed veges. My husband has tried almost all of the specials (we order out) and has enjoyed every single one (he's REALLY not a vegetarian so I'm shocked how much he likes this place). I also love the peanut butter parfait, chili and cornbread, and the watermelon fresca. The people who work here are incredibly friendly, and I feel really welcome coming back time and again. Thanks Native Foods for giving me a great lunch spot (and takeout dinner)!

Soul bowl was surprising delicious and the 'chicken' really tasted like chicken (this is coming from a meat eater). Corrie and the guy who brought out my food were very friendly, welcoming, genuine, and attentive. Outstanding service, especially by Corrie!

Yessss this place is awesome! Their nachos are delicious, their "chicken wings," and fries as well. I'm def not a vegetarian or vegan, but I dig this place. & I love their drink variety. I'm a fan of the teas and lemonades. I was especially obsessed with the watermelon fresca! Read a previous review saying the watermelon fresca is "2/3 water, 1/3 watermelon flavor" yes - that is the point it is not a smoothie it's a fresca and frescas have water - so does watermelon (roughly 91%ish). It's delicious and refreshing, but not overpowering. YUMMM! Definitely a place to go for everyone!

Whenever I need my vegan fix, I always come here. I've tried the nachos, wraps, portobello burger, and all others, and I have yet to be disappointed. The lavender lemonade is so good if mixed with the watermelon fresca!

So happy this place opened right by my office, even though now i'm tempted to eat every meal there! So far I have tried all of the salads and the bombastic tofu wrap - everything has been equally as great. Not to mention their watermelon fresco and sweet potato fries are to die for. As far as the salads go, even though the kale salad & the raw chopper are the healthiest options (not that the others aren't) they are still just as delicious!

  • Allison J.

It's nice that I don't have to drive all the way to Encinitas to enjoy Native Foods. When I'm in the mood to go meatless or grab a healthy bite, Native Foods is a good choice. I recently tried their soul bowl which had the mock chicken, cornbread, beans, rice, kale, and veggies. Pretty good, particularly the cornbread. It was like having dessert in my meal. Can't go wrong with my usual Moroccan bowl choice. And their chocolate chip brownie is definitely worth the calories. Plus i love the unlimited watermelon juice and different teas without any added sugars.

So happy Native Foods has finally opened another SD location! I have been to the Encinitas location quite a few times and loved it but didn't like the 45 minute drive it would take to get there. I was able to go to the Native Foods Point Loma Pre-Opening and couldn't believe how great the service and quality of food was for their very first night. I got the Ensalada Azteca Salad which is one of my favorites and an obligatory Peanut Butter Parfait while my boyfriend got the Bistro Steak Sandwich and Oatmeal Creme Pie. We both loved our food as usual and will be returning again ASAP!

From the friendly sign outside to the indoor art and decor, theres An immediate feeling of care and thoughtfulness in this restaurant. Most dishes seem they are made to order and the presentation is nice. Today had the coconut corn chowder (so delicious and filling) and the Bangkok Bowl, with grilled tofu, brown rice, curry on steamed veggies and kale topped with cilantro. Also very filling. A little too much rice for my liking. The curry sauce was a bit bland (i prefer spicy) but i appreciated that it also allowed flavors of kale and veggies come through. I got a free drink bc i signed up for their rewards program, and got a taste of their watermelon fresca drink. Holy cow that was good! Appreciate they have various unsweetened drinks like organic blueberry hibiscus tea and they include mint leaves in their condiments section. Fast food, but wholesome food with a wholesome feel.

I love that FINALLY a restaurant is based off sustainable slow foods. The meals are amazing and so tasty. The kids meals are the best around and provide a great balanced meal that will make any parent happy. Love this concept and the food. Just wish we weren't moving to Inland Empire and away from something so progressive and delicious.

Lets not get carried away, the Native Foods is a-ok, but the reviews make it seem like its the best thing EVER! Nah, its not. Yea, its pretty damn good, fair price to portion ratio, overly friendly staff, and some chill outdoor seating where the staff will come ask to re-fill ya drink, about every 2.5-3 minutes! 'Chicken' was good, sweet potato fries...good as well! I think theyve got it figured out here, as i would imagine a non-vegan would be able to enjoy this spot as much as a vegan. They must be doin something right...by the time we left, the line was out the door! Can i get some pre-ipo shares?!

This food is really delicious, I've been twice and first had the bombastic wrap which is very tasty, fresh, flavorful and it seems to be one of their most popular items! The second time I had the mushroom and sausage burger which is great if you're craving a heavy/greasy type of meal but don't want to feel to guilty about what your eating. The peanut butter cup dessert is to die for especially if you're someone like me who can't tolerate dairy and crave sweets every now and then. My only negative is that I can't find any nutrition facts online anywhere and I know in CA restaurants legally have to provide that information. I've looked on yelp and I've googled it and can't find anything so I might try and email them. Even though I know it's a "healthy" type of place it definitely has a lot of heavier food but it all tastes delicious, fresh and great when your craving something like that. The place is very clean, the staff is friendly and it's always busy and full of people enjoying their food. Next time I think I'll try the Saigon roll as I've noticed a few people have gotten that and it looks delicious!

  • Ginger E.

Yes, the food is fab, you don't have to be vegan to find it tasty and wonderful. I wont comment on any specific dish because everything I've had here has been fantastic. That said, I took off one star for the high calorie/fat content of their dishes. Just because it's vegan doesn't mean it's healthy. But yeah, it tastes great! My main complaint is that they don't have their Nutritional Information listed on their website. That needs to happen before I go back again. I want to know what I'm eating so I can make wise choices.

We were in SanDiego for a vacation and came across this cafe! Absolutely loved the food here. We had Watermelon fresca with Rockin Moroccon, Kung Pao! The food was simply awesome. We are vegetarian, its nice to find healthy options with wholesome quinoa and lots of vegetables! Both the dishes and the drink we had was delicious and would love to go back to this place.

I got the buffalo wrap with fries, boy it was so delicious! It freaked me out for a moment because it tasted exactly like chicken, and since its been almost a year since ive eaten the real thing I got worried! But of course I read on their news paper they have in the restaurant that its 100% plant based foods. Will be back! :)

Three stars because I normally love the restaurant and it's food, minus two stars for crappy to go service. I was so looking forward to the weekend special "torta loca" after receiving an email advertising it. First off there was barely any filling in the sandwich, there must have been one measly teaspoon of guacamole but even worse was the seitan. The seitan was sliced like thin deli meat but the description did not say it is deli slices. Next thing I looked and looked for the black bean puree and unfortunately there was none. Also no napkins or spoon for my soup. To go orders should include everything you meed for an easy meal.

What can I say, besides: this food is delicious. Be careful though. A lot of people confuse vegan food with being able to stuff your face, and not gain any weight. This food is still pretty heavy. I had so many dishes here, and I have to say, the chicken tenders and the nachos are the winners. They will also make you gain a pound if you include dessert. I'm just sayin this place is so delicious, you will want to eat everything.

I was very pleased with this restaurant. The food taste good, they have good service, and it's super clean. I had the portabello sausage burger with sweet potato fries. We also order the native nachos, Azteca salad, and a Moroccan bowel. The burger was really good, and I usually dislike mock meats. Nachos were awesome! The salsa was super good! I didn't taste the bowels, but they looked really tasty. The watermelon drink was also really good. Last but not least, they have really good desserts! Go native foods cafe!!!

Stumbled in accidentally and was so excited to see great tasting Vegan fare. I so wish we had one of these where we live. I had the split pea soup and Kung Pao salad dish. I ate every bite and finished with a share dessert of Key Lime Pie and a double chocolate shared brownie with hot tea. Just what the doctor ordered! I even purchased a cookbook as these folks really know what it means to eat fresh vegan fare. Kudos

Good, all-organic, all-from-scratch food. Probably sodium-rich, but whatevz. You deserve a treat here and there. Eat an oatmeal cookie or ten. Yum. One star off because the shift manager was not cool. DO NOT snap at your staff on a busy Saturday afternoon, especially not in the dining area. That pisses me off. These guys were getting orders out quickly and efficiently. They'll get to bussing the tables. No one was standing around waiting for a booth to be cleaned. Ugh.

First off, didn't get the Saigon rolls as an appetizer, when we were brought our mains, I asked about them, she said "oh were you told about those" and I said (cuz I had no idea) "no". "Oh we ran out of the peanut sauce so they are gonna make more" I then asked if they could just take it off since we now were eating our mains and she said "well you'll definitely still get them". I just said fine. Then another worker came to offer us free dessert because of that. He said she would be back to see what we wanted, she never came back until I asked her like 35 mins later after we were way done with food just waiting for her. Also, paid for avocado on taco salad. They didn't put any on. Taco salad very bland/boring and hardly any fake meat. I ordered the soul bowl. Supposed to come with ranch and BBQ sauce. Had about 2 drops of each. The veggies (carrots broc cauliflower) were way under cooked. Basically hard. It was very bland. And as others mentioned, not really very warm. When we finally did get the Saigon rolls, they just fall apart. Basically just a bad dish. I've been vegetarian for like 20 years and can make better food than this. Disappointing because I've heard good things. I have a feeling it's just this location that's the problem. The employees seem nice but inexperienced in restaurants. The watermelon drink and cornbread were good though.

This place deserves a solid 3 stars because its hit or miss. One day everything great and then there are days that food is overcooked, dry and not even close to what the menu describes. Might be the "chefs" we don't know but seriously Native Foods - get your shit together. And stop taking things off your menu (meatball sub, zucchini pie, etc...)

  • Andrea S.

I went in for the first time. I wanted to be healthy. I ordered a salad. I took a few bites and it was so damn disgusting I walked out, plate full. Not even the manager could convince me to stay otherwise and order something else. I feel it was a waste of my money. You order a healthy meal and it's like paying for two meals for that salad, and the slice of chicken that was additionally charged to me was like a board stick. How do these people make money? I don't get it. Personally I prefer to make a healthy salad at home and it would taste 20 times better than that place. I'm very disappointed considering I saw them on the news and wanted to go on a health path. Sorry folks stick with the drive-thru's to get your quick fix or stay home and cook a healthy meal with your partner and kids. Screw this place!

Literally left this place in an awesome mood because everyone was so friendly! The cashier was very knowledgeable about the food and she was in an awesome friendly mood! And the guy who brought us our food bagged it up for us and he offered extra sauces, napkins and silerware too! Of course the food is fresh and amazing as we all know, but I'm leaving this review because I was blown away by the exceptional customer service!! :)

Having a dairy free kid makes dining out challenging and not all that interesting. My daughter went nuts for the chicken club and I loved the Cobb salad. My husband didn't really like his gyro salad--it tastes very healthy. Awesome otherwise.

Native Foods is my weakness. This place deserves 5 stars for consistently making delicious comfort food and for the wonderful customer service. I've never had anything I didn't like on the menu. The blueberry hibiscus tea and lavender lemonade is enough to bring you back for more.

Went to lunch here with a friend yesterday. My first time but not hers. I'm vegan, and she's not. It sure does something when a non vegetarian eats here.. Meaning the food and customer service was amazing! Only sad part it's a bit of a drive for this lovely dining experience. I had the Rockin Moroccan Bowl, Saigon Roll (as a starter), and their refreshing watermelon Fresca (free refills)!!! Warning: their food is filling so be careful with the starters because I took most of my bowl home for left overs! Bonus: First timers get a free drink! Sign up to be a native member and earn points!!! Will be back soon. Happy Vegan!

Nice selection of plant-based foods with gluten free options. The menu has a wide variety of rice bowls, plant burgers, tempeh tacos and salads. Interesting sides include vegan superfood coleslaw and lemon broccoli. Outdoor patio and a very friendly and helpful staff add greatly to this fast food vegan hot spot.

We were so happy to find this place during our day-trip to SD. We follow a vegan lifestyle and finding good places to eat w/ several choices is often difficult. We want to go back and eat again b/c there are so many amazing choices on the menu. We had an awesome, delicious, filling lunch and the staff was very friendly. Looking forward to eating there again. Yeah for delicious VEGAN food!!!

Very good, healthy food! All vegan from vegan wine, vegan entrees to vegan dessert! I had the cinco de mayo special with a side of coconut chowder soup, so filling! Also shared a peanut butter parfait. Great service, food comes quickly and friendly vibe too. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Excellent! Ordered the Soul Bowl which was Sooo Delicious! The chicken phenomenal taste! Everything on my plate from the perfectly cooked kale, zucchini, brown rice, ranch n bbq sauces, was amazing! The best part was the perfectly done corn bread. So soft and moist I was calling it my dessert! I love Native Foods! They do such an amazing job with the taste, presentation, wow-factor! Almost forgot to mention, the service was great too! This friendly guy was always there to grab our empty plates and with such a kind smile. Now if only I could learn how to cook vegan food like this!

Good food for a veggie. But beware of who's working. As a frequent customer I've seen the best and the worst of customer service. Just had another bad experience with take out. Other times it was missing items ordered and wrong items. My last visit was a 30 minute wait for take out. After I noticed people getting served that came in way after I did I went up to the counter and saw a to go bag. Is there any chance that's mine? I asked. Oh yeah, sorry, was the response from the ditzy teenage girl at the counter. Frustrating, but I'll go back cause I love the food even when it's cold.

I was so excited to try this place out and was quite disappointed. There were small wow factors like their yummy deep fried "chicken" but everything else was lackluster. I tried their nachos with guac and taco meat, gyro and soul earth bowls - everything was ok at best. The presentation of the dishes were awesome and the service was friendly. They also have good drinks like blueberry hibiscus and peach tea. The gyro bowl had to be the worst of the bunch. It was so bland and I was overwhelmed by the amount of lemon juice used in this dish. I had to try and save it by adding salt and soy sauce which made it a little better, but I do not recommend this. The soul bowl had really good fried chicken and that was it... Everything else on the dish was bland and needed salt, salt and more salt. I really should've just ordered their chicken snacks, but oh well. My boyfriend liked the nachos a lot where I thought it was ok. The nachos were probably the best out of everything we got. The cashew cheese had a little bit of sweetness to it which I didn't get. I used to work at a vegan place so I know for sure that cashew cheese can be savory and not sweet. I'd probably come back to try some other things but not anytime soon.

I have never been here before and was a bit nervous as I thought they might only serve salads but I went and loved it!! I had the Oklahoma Burger with Coleslaw and my partner had the Chicken Run Ranch Burger with potato salad. Both were delicious. The server was very attentive and patient with us as it was our first time visiting a Native Foods location. I definitely plan to visit Native Foods again when I am in the neighbourhood of any. I hope Seattle gets a location soon. Oh and they had absolutely delicious Organic Ice Tea that wasn't too sweet!

Came here during my lunch break and ordered the Bangkok curry bowl and iced chai latte. According to the server, the Bangkok curry bowl is one of their most popular bowls. In terms of the curry sauce, it was decent but not very flavorful compared to other vegan restaurants in San Diego (like Plumeria or Loving Hut). The tofu and veggies (broccoli, carrots and cauliflower) left a lot to be desired as they were completely bland. A little salt would go a long way! Overall, the meal was just ok. Compared to other vegan restaurants in San Diego who have managed to create extremely tasty and flavorful dishes (especially when it comes to Thai cusine), I probably wouldn't come back here. The iced chai latte was a little tasteless and nothing special.

I am not big on vegan food. I like meat. I like many food products made from animals. I will not give this up. That being said, Native Foods makes really good food. The atmosphere is casual and the service is friendly. From what my friends and coworkers have said, there isn't much you can go wrong with. Order the lemongrass broccoli as a side with whatever you order. If you like broccoli, you won't regret it. The Ruben tastes like a Ruben. Vegan and vegetarian places have a unfair rep sometimes. This is one of those times.

There are plenty of Native Foods locations in LA. Why the hell would I make the time to go to one while I was in San Diego? Especially since NF has been disappointing me lately? Because I got an email from NF announcing the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Burrito for a limited time only. Sigh, I'm such a sucker! bit.ly/1HvDK3f It was alright. Sliced seitan, caramelized onions, tofu bacon, fries, lettuce, tomato, and shredded carrots wrapped in wheat tortilla. It pretty much reminded me of the Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger in burrito form. My one complaint is that the BBQ and ranch sauce wasn't distributed evenly throughout. But whenever I did get a bite with sauce, it was better. It came with a side and I opted for the Steamed Kale. It was kinda plain jane. I thought that the steamed kale would have a sauce on top. Then it occurred to me, it's Veggie Grill that puts a tasty sauce on their steamed kale. My bad for getting the two mixed up ;P 3.5 rounded up. As an existing fan of NF, I'm confident that there's more impressive options on the menu. I will say however that this is a good location. Very clean. The staff was pretty nice and friendly too which always wins points with me :)

I've seen quite a few Native Foods around San Diego, and here I am finally trying it! At first I thought it was a create-your-own salad type thing, but the employee that was helping gave me a run down history, which is pretty awesome. She also helped me deciding what to eat and what are the restaurant's favorites. I got the native nachos and the soul bowl. Both were pretty large portions and pretty darn filling! The native nachos were topped heavily with black beans, chipotle sauce, cashew cheese (omg this was delicious!!!), and large thinly sliced jalapenos. As for the soul bowl, it had "fried" chicken with red beans, brown rice, and veggies all topped with BBQ sauce and ranch. Also it came with a side of cornbread which was just out of the oven! Also I tried the watermelon fresca since it instantly caught my eye when I was ordering :D Now I just need to try the rest of the menu!

Looove Native Foods. Even though they're not the only ones doing the vegan fast food thing, I feel like they do it the best. Can't go wrong with any of their crispy chicken sandwiches with a side of fries and a pint of a beer. Yes, it's indulgent and not exactly healthy but that's the point. Oh and I can't forget their chicken wings. While I do like Veggie Grill's, they are somehow a notch above at Native Foods and come with a bed of greens versus celery and carrots. Native Foods - please come to SF (proper). We need you!

I read the reviews on here and decided to give this place a go. I ordered the Bangkok curry bowl to go. It's basically a bed of brown rice with steamed veggies and tofu on top and they put the curry sauce on the side (?!) nothing special in my opinion. The lavender lemonade was good. Not sure if I'd go back unless Im craving bland food.

Came by Native Foods Cafe with my husband for a late dinner last Thursday evening around 8:55 pm. We were the only ones there (which is understandable as it is quite late). This restaurant is located in the same plaza as Sprouts, CVS, Ulta Beauty, TJ MAx and Party City. Specifically, this restaurant is located right next to Pick Up Stix with plenty of parking. When we walked inside, we were greeted by the employees behind the counter. After browsing the menu, we ended up getting: Bangkok Curry Bowl, $9.99 prior to tax- I asked the employee who took our order if it was possible to make the sauce mild. She told me that the sauce has already been premade but that the sauce is not spicy. She asked me if I would like to try a sample of the sauce, which I said yes and she had the kitchen give me a little taste on a spoon. To be honest, I thought it was a little spicy (I am a nonspicy eating person) but figured it would not be too spicy once mixed with the rice and vegetables in this dish and decided to order it. I loved the brown rice and seared tofu and just as I guessed, the curry sauce wasn't too spicy once all mixed in with all of the ingredients. This dish really is quite a comforting hearty dish for me and made for a nice warm meal on a cold night. The portion of this dish is perfect for 2 to share. Ensalada Azteca Stacked Salad, $9.99 prior to tax- My husband didn't know what to pick and figured he would get this salad because of the jicama because he wanted something crunchy and refreshing. Just like my entree, this dish is an excellent portion for 2 to share as well. His salad came with quinoa, romaine lettuce, pumpkin seeds and a cucumber salsa. There was a generous amount of avocado and I really liked the added sweetness from the raisins. The dressing was good as well. But if I had to pick which dish I enjoyed the best, it would have to be my curry bowl. Watermelon Fresca. $2.79 prior to tax- I ended up getting this drink free as I had a credit on my account to get a free drink (total score!). There were a few drinks advertised on the back wall that their drinks are made fresh daily and my husband wanted something fruity to drink. Because this restaurant was going to close at 10 pm, the employee who took our order gave us an extra cup and said what we don't drink will be dumped so we can drink as much as we want (I am not sure if you would normally get unlimited refills if you order this during the day and not close to closing time). Both my husband and I did not really like this drink, but did like the strawberry lemonade (the lavender was a nice touch) and this blueberry tea. --------------------------------- (Total= $21.58, after taxes and free drink) I really love Native Foods Cafe and have dined at the location in Costa Mesa a few times. The reason why we (or rather me, as my husband's first choice for food isn't normally vegetarian) came here for dinner was because it was one of the only nearby restaurants by our hotel that was still open late (we didn't get to check into our hotel until 8:45 pm because of the traffic that made for a longer than wanted drive down). Be sure to sign up for Native Foods rewards card so you can get some freebies (like a free $10 credit on your birthday). And when you dine at one of their restaurants, be sure to give them your email address (the one you used to join their rewards card) so you can receive credit/ points for every visit.

Nothing really tastes "fake" here. I'm a total carnivore, but love what I've had here so far. I was invited to the opening of the one in Encinitas a couple of years back and had their Rueben sandwich. I was pretty blown away how much I liked it. The "meat" on it tasted like the real thing and the rest of the sando had all the other yummy stuff on it too. I've got to order this one again here. I just had their taco salad the other day and that was really delicious and filling too. The taco meat was tasty, it had big pieces of romaine lettuce, crispy tortilla strips, flavorful salsa and a 1000 island type dressing on the side. I paid a little extra to have some avocado on it too. Will def order this one again. I also love their blueberry hibiscus ice tea! So refreshing!

Normally I do not like fake chicken or any meat for that matter, but it was late and I'd rather eat vegan chicken than mysterious chicken from Burger King. Even being a first time customer I got a rewards card because why not? I ordered the Chicken Bacon and Avocado Club and the price turned out to be $11.11, so I made a wish that it'd be good. It was. I did not expect the fake chicken patty to actually have the consistency of chicken, but they did a marvelous job at imitating actual meat. Everything about the sandwich was good. Initially the bread looked overwhelmingly large and somewhat too birdseedy, but it was softer than it looked, and the seeds were not overwhelming. The chipotle dressing was lovely and the avocado was obviously delicious. There was barely any tofu bacon, but I do not especially like bacon anyways. I got it with the side salad, which came with a delicious balsamic dressing. Eating alone, I did get some stares form other customers. The staff was friendly though and service was fast. I left thoroughly satisfied with my meatless, eggless, dairyless meal. I'm not sure what my rewards card will get me - hopefully I return to find out.

OH MAN!!! I do not like to wrote a bad review of a place that is serving delicious alternatives to vegans. i love eating like this once ion a while and can very much appreciate the taste of soy products! Unfortunately, this place did not meet the expectations of what I read online. I ordered the Mexican Cobb Salad and was so unimpressed. The flavor of the "chicken" was good compared to most I have tried, but there was at least a full cup of BBQ sauce poured over the entire salad that i could not even different between the different tastes in the salad. I might give this place another try, but being here in Point Loma, there are so many options and this is not the only Vegan option nearby..

WOW! I didn't know what to expect coming here but this place is great. I'm not vegan but everything is vegan. I got tofu and coconut curry. DELICIOUS! The woman who took our order was so informative and passionate about what this company is all about. It's great to get excellent customer service. I can't wait to come back and try something new. I had a really positive experience and I appreciate the workers here for being so kind.

So good that I visited a second time on the same business trip. I had the Ensalada Azteca one day and the Carribean Jerk Tempeh Salad the other. Both creative and delicious. I would return in a heartbeat to try some of the other offerings.

From the start, I was super impressed with the friendliness of the staff here. From the woman who took my order, to the woman who brought me my food to-go, they made sure I had everything I needed and wanted and were very nice. I tried the OC Raw Chopper salad and daily soup and both were delicious! The salad was very fresh and the dressing was light and tangy. The soup was made from sweet potato, ginger, and kale--very healthy and very savory. I'd order that again. This place has a vibrant, welcoming feel and I love their emphasis on natural foods and drinks (they have several different all natural teas and lemonades). It's a great place for vegans and non-vegans (which I am) because the menu is very diverse and has a lot of items that would probably surprise a lot of non-vegans! I actually didn't even realize it was a vegan chain until I read more about it (after I ate everything). I am definitely going back and trying some of their main dishes! Fyi - They also have a rewards program and when you first sign up, you get a free drink.

Why have I driven by countless times and never ventured in here? As fate would have it- the line at my usual food truck was longer than I would have liked and the thought if waiting for an overpriced, greasy burrito was not the way I really wanted to start off the week. At about the same price as the burrito I would have hated myself for ($8) afterwards, I came to Native Foods and got the Jamaican Jerk Kale Salad ($9ish) and walked away pleased with my meal, myself, and the world.

The menu has been reduced at this location, the Encinitas one has a wider selection. Great place for a vegan, the salads are huge! I've never tried anything else. They also have some refreshing and unique tea choices. Portions all seem to be big which is a bonus, despite moderately high prices! Great healthy alternative, and the dessert selection looks fabulous if you want to treat yourself. Service and takeout are quick!

I came in to redeem my birthday reward and it was immediately obvious to me that the server was having a bad day. I work in the service industry so I always go in with a smile and a lot of patience. No smile from her and only short, condescending remarks. The food was decent. I don't think I'll be returning unless I have another free meal.

I am not a vegan, but this place makes me want to be. The iced teas are refreshing and allow for free refills. My favorite salad (so far) is the Kale with Caribbean flavors. The seasonal crunchy avocado wrap is delicious and flavorful. The steamed kale side is the only item I've tried so far that they've been apparently unable to transform beyond what you'd expect. Meh. I should've just gotten the fries! My daughter loves the (fake) chicken nuggets, which is fantastic news, as I want to eat here ALL the time!

Let the record show: I'm still mad Baja Fresh isn't at this location (or anywhere in SD that I can find!) anymore. I finally tried Native Foods the other day, because I was doing work errands in the area and was starving. Traffic was too bad to try to get over to In-N-Out. Everything here is vegetarian. In fact, I think everything is vegan - they put something called cashew cheese on the chili fries. Yes, the menu says chicken spelled the normal way without quotation marks, but it is vegetarian "chicken." I had the buffalo wings which you can order several different ways, which was kind of confusing. I ended up with "crispy, spicy." I think you could also get grilled - I wouldn't recommend that, go with crispy. It was about $8 for maybe 8 big pieces of fake buffalo wings. A fair price. The sandwiches are around $10, which I think is kind of a lot for a non-sit down restaurant. I'll have to go back and try a sandwich to see if the price is worth it - there's a rueben with my name on it. Service was friendly and informative.

Stumbled across this one on yelp searching for healthy alternatives. I will definitely be back... Up until my diet ends. I love the variety of natural juices and flavored teas instead of the traditional soda fountain. They were just a tad Bit sweat but very tasty. I ordered the BBQ chicken salad. I couldn't tell if I was eating real chicken or the fake tofu one, either way it was very good. I also tried the sesame chicken bites and again not knowing if it was real chicken or tofu. The chicken bite dish had a little tang from the slaw I thought it was just okay. Over all the food was good, healthy and clean.

Excellent! Food is wonderful, service is wonderful! The sesame "chicken" balls are the BEST! everything here is good! Seriously the best vegan spot I have been to. Everything on the menu is delicious. I am not vegan, but still am impressed with all the flavors and combinations Native Foods can put together. Still mind blown how their rueben tastes just as good as a real one. They even got the meat texture on point. Well done, native foods, well done. I'll be back.

You know that awesome feeling you get when you just inherently know you like someone or something instantly. Well, that's how I felt about Native Foods Cafe the minute I arrived. I got a tip off from a friend after explaining my strict eating regiment. I don't like to call it a diet because that word is a misnomer. Every living organism has a diet. Anyways, I'm really glad she recommended Native Foods, because it hits all the right notes for me. I'm not a vegan, or a vegetarian. In fact, if you read my reviews you'll see me chowing down on the occasional bacon cheeseburger, and going nuts on chicken wings. They key is that I limit that sort of thing to special occasions or weekends. During the work week I do my best to fuel my body with loads of vitamins, minerals, nutrients. I basically allow my eating habits to mimic my work schedule. Monday through Friday it's all business. This is where Native Foods comes into play. One look at the menu and I could see that I had a wealth of healthy options to choose from. Salads, wraps, small bites, desserts (that still had some health value), and a plethora of organic teas. They even have mint leaves for your drink if you like that sort of thing. I know I do. I recommend it too. I got the Aztec Salad which reads Ensalada Azteca on the menu for you Spanish speaking folks :) It was loaded with fresh romaine, jicama, avocado, quinoa, diced tomatoes, and a slice of mango with tahin. The cilantro lime vinaigrette was amazing and gave it a perfect compliment. I was more than happy with this salad. I added the lemongrass broccoli and I was set on food. The tea selection is really good as well. I earned myself a free drink for being a first timer, and I went with the organic green tea with a splash of blueberry hibiscus with my added mint leaves. It was unreal. Try it out, you won't be disappointed. The green tea is unsweetened, so if you're a sugar fiend try something else. This place made a wonderful first impression, and I'm excited to go back for many nutritious meals in the future.

This place was great! I love vegetarian and plant based foods, and I love them even more when they are done right! This place was YUMMY and the staff was super polite, attentive and helped me out without being in my face and pushy. The location is great, and the seating is open, with cool art all over the walls. I am glad they have a frequent eater card to earn free desserts and meals because I plan to frequent this place anytime I am in the Pt. Loma area! Mix the Lavender Lemonade with the Watermelon Agua Fresca! Yum!

Some folks left their pie. Two native employees dashed out the door calling out a spread to maximize their probability to find their pie less customer. As a destiny player on the ps4, I appreciate a team approach to finding targets. These vegans are legit. Last week, I ate here 6x? I often watch or note if people wash their hands. Vegans love washing their hands. Crazy clean bathrooms as well. Not Nordstrom nice, but cleaner than nordstroms as vegans are rarely fatties.

The McDonalds of the vegetarian world and you don't even get a drive-thru. I was NOT impressed with their representation of veg food. I ordered the portobello sausage burger. It comes with a patty but this thing was more like dried out Play-dough; no flavor & rubbery Gag! ;( "Wheat meat" doesn't have to be that bad! Also, they only give you small pieces of portobello & they're overlooked. The bun was dry & tasteless but the grilled onions had plenty of oil to compensate Blehck! ;( The pickle on the side had nice flavor but was slimy & not very crunchy. The positives have nothing to do with taste buds: Good explanation of their meat alternatives, however they fail to mention that "seitan" is just the Japanese word for gluten. Rather than explaining this the manager just kept repeating the description on the menu: he didn't actually know that seitan or "wheat meat" is simply gluten; the protein component of wheat. I guess they don't want to tell you this because gluten is such a trendy taboo these days.Ugh! The staff was friendly but pretty clueless, one girl couldn't tell me what the napkins or single-use cutlery was made of, she had to go ask a coworker, which I would think would be part of the training in such a CA hipster chain. I'm not vegetarian but I know good veggie food and this is NOT it. If you want fantastic organic vegan food go to Trilogy Sanctuary in La Jolla! The seitan at Native Foods just gives vegetarians a bad name.

My first experience ever at this location. Walking in I had no clue what to order, but after speaking to the guy at counter I went for the Reuben sandwich and native fries. I found the ambiance really nice. I liked the way the fresh water was displayed. Once I ordered my food I went ahead and decided to try a couple of their drinks. The watermelon was so refreshing! I highly recommend it. My friend decided to mix half and half with the lavender lemonade which was also really good. I don't eat vegan food very often but I have tried some here and there. My sandwich was actually pretty tasty. I liked the fries and potato salad- I'm pretty picky with both. I would definitely come back to try more things on their menu & maybe some dessert.

Love this place!! Crispy avocado wrap LOVED it! And the buffalo wings the chipotle sauce that they have is KILLER I love that stuff! My husband and I were Native Foods regulars for years but when it became corporate and acquired a new CEO the quality of the food (and experience) went way down. I ate at this location last night and ordered the portobello sausage burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger buns were huge in comparison to the tiny "sausage" and even tinier portobellos. I took one bite and the "sausage" was hard, chewy, and flavorless. I ate the fries and that was all. So disappointed in the changes made to my once favorite vegan restaurant.

The first time I walked in this restaurant and stood in line, I observed my surroundings. Everything about this place says, 'Earthy & Fun' - Colorful, chalk art covering a wooden wall (Earth-friendly themed, of course), clever signage, recycled napkins, stone cardholders, a cactus-lined patio, wooden benches and stools, and hip servers. I've only been here a few times, but am willing to give my 4-star rating this early on because I can't fathom how the chefs accomplished making vegan food not so Blah! I've been omnivorous most of my life, mostly because I found vegan food to be boring after awhile, non-filling, lacking in taste, and not enough variety. BUT,.....when I came here, it changed my whole outlook on Veganism. I found their menu as diverse as their clientele. Great variety and great tasting. Below are just some of the things I've tried, Saigon Roll - There's something in their tangy peanut sauce that makes me go Mmmmmm! Bangkok Curry Bowl - Kale is one of my favorite greens and this bowl has it. Perfect combo of kale, brown rice, steamed veggies, lemongrass, coconut milk curry, and tofu. I love how they seared the tofu in such a way that the texture isn't mushy or spongy. The only way I can think to describe the tofu is that it tasted like chicken omelette slices (?). Classic Deli Reuben - It's on rye bread and is described as, 'Thinly-sliced, deli-style Native Reuben Seitan piled high and topped with homemade sauerkraut, Native Horseradish Cheese and a slather of chipotle sauce.' Not sure what Seitan is exactly, but I couldn't really taste much difference between it and real corned beef. I actually liked the taste better because it wasn't as salty as corned beef. Fries - Not greasy and good tasting, but I prefer them more brown myself though. Carrot Cream Cheese Cupcake - Although I'm not a huge fan of carrot cake, I noticed there was only one left the past few times I've been here. Since it seems to sell out the fastest, I had to try it to see what the hype was all about. OMG! Hello?!! What's not to like about CREAM CHEESE? This cupcake was moist, topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting, and will probably be the only carrot-cake type dessert that I will ever actually buy and eat for myself! Watermelon Fresca - Sweet and refreshing with a hint of mint. No need to add sugar because it's sweetened with organic agave. At my next visit, I plan on trying their Soul Bowl, Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger, or Super Italian Meatball Sub. All three were suggested by other diners with whom I'd been acquainted during my visits.

I'm not vegan, but I'm trying to be more healthy and eat less animal protein. This is my first foray into faux meat. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I've been here several times now, and everything I've had is fantastic. The portions are generous and I've found everything to be flavorful.

Best food in all of history. So delicious and no animal products. Even all omnivores love this place. I started eating here regularly before I went vegan, and I bought their cookbook that they sell, now I am vegan and I can't get enough native foods, I bring all my friends and family here and even the most skeptical people love it!

Man I'm so glad I discovered this place! It is such a vegetarian/vegan Mecca! I was really impressed with the service the first time I went. I told the cashier it was my first time to native foods and he really helped to good suggestions. I got that Thai meatball bowl, per the recommendation of the friendly staff. It was really fresh and delicious. However my tried and true favorite is the Oklahoma bacon cheese burger. Sooooo tasty. Very hearty and substantial. Kind of tastes like what I remember an Arby's burger tasting like haha. And don't get me started on the lavender lemonade. To. Die. For. I could drink gallons of that, but I don't because I can't have too much acid. All the desserts have been great but my favorite is the oatmeal creme pie. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike!

exceeded my expectations. three employees greeted and thanked me at various intervals. the food (curry bowl) was chock full of large broccoli florets and yummy slices of tofu. I found the portion of curry sauce to be just a *tad* small, so I went back to the counter to ask for a spoon (I often use a spoon to extract as much delicious curry as possible). the cashier asked me if I wanted more sauce, before I could even ask. I was impressed - perhaps many people ask for more? She gave me a large side serving of curry sauce, and I proceeded to pleasurably dip the remainder of my veggies and tofu. clean, tasty, friendly service. and my slight grumblings on price (not many items less than 9 dollars on the menu) were mitigated by the friendly staff member's gift of a "frequent diner" card, which gives a discount on my next visit. Very impressed. I will return.

Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!!!! I love Native Foods! I've only been there once but I'm already hooked! They have a really fun take on healthy and vegan cuisine! I had their new crispy avocado wrap (not sure if that's what they call it but that's what I call it, okay?). It was crisped with coconut! I love that it wasn't battered in some nasty, greasy breading. It was soooooooo good! And they have really good options for side orders! I went with the lemongrass broccoli. Even that was good! It was very flavorful. They also have a nice little selection of teas, herbal and non-herbal.....or whatever that is. I really wanted to try one of their desserts but I didn't get a chance to this time. They all looked really good though! I will try one for sure the next time I go! They are all on display in a little case right at the counter. Very cute! Definitely try this place if you are in the mood for healthy and actually delicious food!

Delicious lunch spot in Point Loma with ample parking (it's located in a huge parking lot!) My go to order is Yo Amigo Taco Salad with avocado and watermelon fresca with fresh mint leaves. I can't get enough of it and it's perfect for Meatless Mondays or guilt-free Taco Tuesday! And the best part is that I can bring my vegetarian friends and everyone will leave satisfied!

My mom had recovered from stage 1 cancer. She can only eat organic type foods. We found out about native foods when they first opened up in point Loma. Probably spent over $2000 on food alone with my parents and wife. We love the food. They had over 20 something items on the menu. Stacked up high as the food came out. Favorite was the nachos with them pickled jalapeño. What the hell native foods? We come here today on 4/21/15 and things has changed. They reduced more than 10 items from the menu, skimpy on the portion sizings and changed menu item forms! Here's the worst part as I sit here in native foods now. They changed the nacho jalapeños !!! They no longer use pickled jalapeños and use real sliced jalapeños now. The best part "was" the pickled jalapeños. And now. It's gone. Really?? That's what made the nachos taste so good. Asked a waitress about it and the cooks said they changed it to normal jalapeños. Yeah. I'm complaining about the jalapeño change because now the nachos are garbage. And don't forget about he portion sizes. Skimped down half the size they used to serve. You lost 4 customers that come twice a week. Shape up your business please and listen to the customers. Look elsewhere folks, they are way more better vegan type organic places out there. 2 stars because sometimes change is not the direction to head into native foods.

I love the freshness of the food here. Any place that is fully 100% plant-based is always a winner in my book. Now it's not always healthiest, because we can get fried foods. Whatever you order, is delicious!

WOW!!!! I've found a new favorite spot. I've been meaning to check Native Foods out for quite some time. My co-workers have talked about the Encinitas location so I was happy to hear one opened in Point Loma. We've been twice now and it's been delicious each time. On our first visit I tried the tornado wrap. It was real good but I wanted a little extra flavor so I added som of the buffalo sauce and it was amazing. We ordered some nachos and chicken wings as an appetizer. The chicken wings are amazing. I was a little disappointed by the nachos but only because the chips were cold so it made the whole thing cold. I think if they were hot the whole plate would have been great. We stopped back in for lunch today and ordered the Reuben and the Italian Meatball sub based on a recommendation from my sister. We were also greeted by a free drink as well as a free dessert. I got the free drink for signing up for their rewards program on our first visit and the dessert was for completing my online profile. The Reuben was sooooooooo good. Yes I'm sure people may be skeptical but frankly I preferred this over some of the Reubens that I've had. The meat doesn't have those hard grisly fat pieces that sometimes come with corned beef. For our free dessert Michael picked the sticky toffee cake... well I only got a bite because he scarfed it up. I'm seriously a fan and can't wait until our next visit!

As Mark K. says, even non-vegans and non-vegetarians want some healthier options and I agree with him that Native Foods hits the spot. For me it was the type of place that I walked into and wanted to try everything, so I had a hard time deciding on what to order. That's a good problem to have! The soup of the day was a seasonal vegetable chowder. It was delicious, but more like a minestrone than a chowder. We also tried the portobello and sausage burger and the heart beet sandwich. The former was chowed down before I even got a bite (must have been good!). The latter, however, was tasty (although it could have used more beets and some salt and pepper). The portions are kind of on the small side for the price you pay. The teas and juices are bottomless. I started with a watermelon fresca with fresh mint leaves and later switched to unsweetened, organic peach tea because I wanted less sweetness in my drink. There are alcoholic beverages available, too. Native Foods is doing a Thanksgiving menu for the holiday that sounds amazing - The Native Wellington, Mushroom Shallot Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Native Stuffing, Cranberry Compote, Green Bean Casserole, Green Salad with Maple Glazed Pecans & Pomegranate Pearls, Polenta Butternut Squash Terrine, Wheatberry Waldorf,, Cornbread with Butter, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Pumpkin Pie - although maybe a wee bit pricey at $25 a pop. The menu changes regularly at Native Foods, so I'm looking forward to going back again and having all new options to that are hard to choose from. :)

I had emailed Native Food Cafe from their website with my negative comments in regards to their sudden change in menus and portion sizes and preparation of food items (or lack thereof). I have NOT heard back from them since emailing last week. My family and I really loved the food and customer service when they newly opened the cafe. After 4 months things started changing until it has now become different in many ways compared to when they opened. Being long time customers, we had hoped they would ask us what we liked and disliked before changing and/or deleting items from the menu in a drastic way. Now, in my opinion, they are not caring about their customers, just their bottom line. We're looking elsewhere after spending 1000s in this place. We will visit again in the future to see if they have improved.

I like Native Foods and I've gone to multiple locations. The SAN DIEGO locations are the WORST of the franchise. Their portions are about 40% LESS compared to Los Angeles and Palm Springs locations. The food is still good but until the portion sizes compare to the ORIGINAL (Palm Springs) location, it's not worth the money spent. There are many vegan and vegetarian places in San Diego. I highly recommend staying away from San Diego and truly treating yourself to this great food when visiting LA and PS.

I love that with this new location I no longer have to gorge and over-order when I'm in Encinitas, because I love the Native Foods Cafe up there so much it's a must when I'm in North County. The Point Loma/Midway location opens on 4/29, but I was privileged to be part of the pre-opening this past Friday and try a lot of their dishes. They generously gave each pre-opening diner the choice to order an appetizer, entree, side, dessert AND drinks. This new location doesn't disappoint, as it's the same stellar decadently crafted vegan menu and excellent customer service you get at the Encinitas one. The customer service outperforms any other casual quick-dining restaurant, from the cashier to workers sweeping the dining room regularly and checking if you need refills, etc. I ordered the: 1) Butternut polenta bites (Pesto baked polenta topped with roasted butternut squash, caramelized onions and toasted pumpkin seeds in balsamic over arugula). This was absolutely my FAVORITE part of the meal. I love that it's polenta but that it's baked and not fried. With three hearty, palm-sized towers of delicious, I could eat this as just a meal. 2) Caribbean Jerk Kale Salad (Jerk seasoned Native Tempeh, avocado, chopped mango, red peppers and onion tossed with crunchy kale in a creamy jalapeno cilantro dressing. Garnished with green onion and shredded coconut): I didn't really like this, but it's my fault for ordering an all-raw-kale salad, knowing that I only enjoy kale when it's cooked or in smaller portions. Still, my dining companion and I agreed that the jerk seasoning under-delivered in flavor as it was way too peppery and not much other taste. The overall dish is slightly spicy, given that it's tossed in the jalapeno dressing. 3) Tortilla soup as a side. Finally, a perfectly lumpy tortilla soup! Wow, this was hands down the best tortilla soup I've ever had! 4) Peanut butter parfait (gluten-free, creamy whipped peanut butter filling layered between Boogie Bar crumbles and chocolate chips. Agave sweetened). I'm not big on sweets but thought this was absolutely lovely. The peanut butter "pudding" was very thick and slightly sweet. 5) Watermelon agua fresca. I don't love to order drinks (adds calories!) to my meal, but always get one of these at Native Foods Cafe. It's so refreshing and naturally sweet, like biting into fresh melon.

Seriously the bomb !! I'm so glad chick -fil -a was so packed which had me try this place out &!gonna make this place my go to spot when I'm in the area .. I had the chicken bacon avo sandwich w sweet potato fries . I thought it was huge & I thought I'd only eat half . I finished it & didn't feel yucky afterward. Very flavorful mock chicken & bacon left satisfied & not feeling bloated . Seriously must try

I already wrote a review with bunch of picture but it disappeared. I eat here very frequently because it's vegan fast food at its best. I will never get tired of their *bacon* cheeseburger (Oklahoma burger) the spicy fries but love everything on the menu, salads and quinoa bowls included. Their drinks are good too and now that their lavender lemonade is a bit less sweeter than when they opened, I would go just for it.

This place was so much better than I expected. The staff was super friendly and the service was great; they greeted me as soon as I walked in the store and encouraged me to take my time before I ordering if I needed to do so. I did not know what to try on the menu but thought the Texas "bacon" bbq "cheese burger" sounded pretty good. I asked the cashier if she would recommend it and she said it was very good. When the server delivered it to my table he stated it was one of his favorites with a pretty genuine smile. I bit into the this burger and was very pleased. I was a vegan for years a long while ago and this is easily one of the best vegan burgers I have had and the cashew cheese was sooo super yummy. Interestingly enough, there isn't any sort of veggie pattie on the bun, but thin strips of seasoned seitan. I ordered the lemon grass broccoli instead of fries because I only had 16WW points left (Burger is 14 PP+). The broccoli was delicious and I was full off the burger and that. No fries needed. I am going to try to go back before I go, but if not, I can go in DMV. I was excited to see that there is one in Falls Church, VA. I cannot wait to try other options on "meatless Mondays". I had the teas to drink. The teas are all good if you like unsweetened flavored teas. I probably could have just gone with water, but I was curious.

YUMMMMMM! I am no vegan/vegetarian but I love eating here. The serving sizes are really good, the food is flavorful, the staff is extremely nice and helpful, and the drinks are mouth watering. It's a nice place to go if you want restaurant style food served quickly and in a cool environment. P.S. THE PEANUT BUTTER PARFAIT IS INCREDIBLE, if you haven't tried it yet... You're not living your life to the fullest ;)

This is my 2nd experience at native foods. The staff is very positive and energetic. I am taking my food to go I decided to try the Ruben. The taco trio. A couple of different salads. I'm super excited I'm taking the food to my husband he's out working construction in our new home.

The nachos are divine. The serving size is good for 2 people (personally, I save half for later, its that good). I get everything on it, jalapenos on the side. It taste good the next day, almost like a tortilla soup without the juice.

What can I say about this place? There's great tasting food, it's vegan and the service ranges from above average to good. My only mini-gripe is the ingredients are not all if at all organic. However, they never advertise that it is. The restaurant is well-maintained and appears clean. It's good for families and everyone. I'm tired of writing. This place is good. Go. It's a good place to eat for vegans nor non-vegans alike.

First off I want to say that their double delight brownie is like crack. I would come back just for a piece of it. Rich and Super chocolatey. Now onto the food. We ordered 2 of their salads and an appetizer. The native chicken wings were yum. Flavorful and tasted just like chicken nuggets. The Buffalo sauce was spicy and tangy and the ranch was creamy. The azteca salad and their yo amigo taco salad. The azteca salad was fresh, loads of ingredients and very balanced. It also came with a delicious piece of chili covered mango. The taco salad was delicious as well. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful. Only complaint is that there was too much water at the bottom of my bowl. Their drink bar changes daily and we tried their watermelon fresco and it was yummy. The staff is all super friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything. Outside patio is nice and it's also pet friendly. Def will return.

Highly upset with the poor service that was given I phoned in an order for the quinoa Bliss salad I added avocado and chicken which came out to be a total of $17. I get to the restaurant and after waiting over 20 minutes I was told that they cannot find my order and that I may have called the wrong restaurant however I showed her my call log in which she stated that it was indeed the correct restaurant. She then asked me if I wanted to wait 10 more minutes for them to make my order.....what do you think I said! Absolutely not ma'am!

My new favorite vegan/vegetarian place in the Point Loma/Ocean Beach area. The customer service here is PHENOMENAL. The woman who helped me and my boyfriend at the counter was so genuine and helpful. The entire staff was so genuine and so sweet. I got the taco salad and dessert (couldn't resist) and it was so delicious. My boyfriend loved his "chicken" sandwich also (and he is a meat eater)! There are so many awesome options on the menu as well, it was honestly so tough to come to a decision about what to eat. Oh well, just means I will have to come back again and again! :)

I LOVE Native Foods! I have been vegetarian for over 15 years, and I eat mostly raw and vegan. However, I am not a big fan of fake meats. That being said, Native Foods, hands down, without a doubt totally changes my mind about faux meats. I love everything I have tried on the menu. This is one of those restaurants that you can order pretty much order anything on the menu, and it ALL tastes amazing. My favorite thing on the menu so far is the Nachos. Its a combination of raw and vegan elements and I can't even begin to explain how good it tastes. Sean Gecko R and I got the nachos to share and I could barely contain myself and I almost ate the whole thing. The chicken club is also really amazing. Oh and the fries...the fries are SO good. The only downside is the portion is a little small, I could probably eat like 3 portions of the fries. The only thing that was sort of meh was the sweet potato fries. They put sugar on them, and Im not a fan of sweetened fries. Also they tend to put a lot of flavors together that might be a little too much. The western burger is good, but has so many elements with so many flavors I had to pick out a few things. The Mexican cobb salad is similar, its good but the "chicken" is so marinated it sort of ruins the rest of the sale. I try and come here as often as possible, and I want to try everything. I love you Native Foods!

Awesome place! Relatively cheap and very good vegetarian/vegan food. They have a pretty big menu, and have awesome burgers. Also their sweet potato fries are to die for, so make sure to try those.

It was alight. Loved the watermelon fesca drink. I ordered a side of fries and a cup of chili. Bf had the rockin moroccan bowl, he said there's too many flavors. Best thing were the drinks and fries..

What an amazing opening of a third location in San Diego. Congratulations on a well planned event, with enough well trained employees to serve a ton of customers in a very reasonable amount of time. Now for the food... no meat in this place! But that is great news! ALL the items we tried (and we got to try several drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts) were amazing. So much flavor and good for you and the planet. If you are in the Point Loma area, this is easy to get to, and well worth a try!! Kudos!

Are you kidding me?!!!! This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!! One of my good friends told me about it and we just went to their grand opening. There were 4 of us and we all got different things and split everything. Appetizers, entrees, side dishes, dessert, and drinks. I was impressed with every single thing that I had. I kept saying "I can't believe how great this is!" And I couldn't believe everything was meatless, because it was THAT GOOD, especially the chicken. Dare I say, one of the best places I have ever eaten at! And it's vegan!!! I'm in shock still I think. Great service, super friendly staff, fast, they were on top of it today! Simply FANTASTIC!!!!

Ohhhhh Myyyyyy! Where to start?!?!? We're vegetarian, not vegan, and usually aren't crazy about vegan restaurants, which makes it all the more surprising that we LOVE this place!!!! Our uber-carnivorous friends love it, too, shocker of shockers! The menu's variety, and the kitchen staff's mastery of so many dishes, is remarkable. From the Moroccan to Mexican with so many options in between, this place can't be beat. Oh, and it's 100% plant-based and healthy! Pinch me! (No, don't ...). One of many must tries: the Lavender Lemonade. Delicious and free refills. Mmmmm.... A group of us are going back soon. Can't wait!!! :)

This place is freaking amazing!! The Nachos are to die for and btw, although it says appetizer it is def. a full on meal. Tortilla soup is also one of my favorites. I've had some of my meat and potato kind of guy friends come here and still loved it! dif. recommend it!

Delicious vegan food. Seriously delicious. This is coming from a carnivore. If I'm not too scared to try this stuff, you shouldn't be either. Each time I come, I make it a point to try something new. The nachos are superb. The avo chicken bacon club is filling and tasty tasty. Lemongrass broccoli has made me cry tears of well cooked produce joy. Can't wait to keep coming back until I try their entire menu! All the staff are super friendly and accomodating. Cristina was a breath of calming fresh air and suggested my dank meal today and I was impressed. Keep ppl like her employed! All in all 5 stars for every aspect of this place. The outside area is nice cause you can soak up the sun and eat next to little precious sparrows and cacti. The drinks are heavenly. They have high standards when it comes to their beer selection and beverage variety. I recommend you go here, then you bring your significant other and your gramma and your kids and anyone you know! PS their desserts will leave you in sweet bliss after you leave. Try something new and eat here! ^-^

Officially a fan! Really yummy food and large portions. A little pricy for a take-out type place, but it's understandable because I'm sure they use the best ingredients possible. I've loved everything that I've tried here so far...the Saigon Roll, Soul Bowl, Rockin' Moroccan, and Lavender Lemonade. Oh, and the Zucchini Date cake was superb! That coconut sauce makes my mouth drool just thinking of it. I'm very happy to have a healthy food option near my work. The first time I came here was for a very late dinner and for some reason my food took FOREVER. I was super hungry and not very happy about it. But it was worth the wait. Today I ordered over the phone and picked it up. They were pretty efficient. Sign up for the rewards...you get $10 off for your birthday!

Tonight was my first time eating here, and I was pleasantly surprised! One of my friends recommended the place to me because I LOVE vegetables. It was quite funny because 4/5 of us unintentionally ordered the jerk kale salad. However, it wasn't so funny when 3/4 salads came to the table and I had to wait ten minutes for mine to arrive. They were practically finished when my salad finally reached the table. Not only that, our salads were supposed to have avocado in them, but there was no avocado to be found. The server was nice and brought extra avocado to our table, but by then we were almost done eating. I really did enjoy the food and plan to try other items on the menu, it's just a bummer that our first experience had to start off this way. The food deserves five stars, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the service. Hopefully next time the service is better.

On my second visit to the Rosecrans St Native Foods, I was disappointed. Ordered the Moroccan Bowl with the "chicken" for the first time; the huge chunks of carrot were warm but raw instead of being grilled. The grilled chicken was tasty as were the quinoa and remaining veggies. One of the many unsavory "street people" who hang around the Midway/Rosecrans area was going in and out of the main dining area for the 45 minutes I was there. I believe she was casing the tables for tips. She kept coming up to peoples tables, trying to make conversation. The woman seated next to me with a small child was really getting irritated with this person's behavior. She and I both went to speak to the manager about this when we were leaving; she asked for a refund for her unfinished meal. The manager never apologized to either one of us for this incident. Additionally, one of the cashiers mentioned this person had been hanging around since they opened that day. If this manager wants to keeping her paying clients returning, she keep these types of people out of the dining area. I've dined at the Native Foods in Encinitas many times and never had a problem with the food, service or atmosphere. The Point Loma manager needs to spend some time up there to experience how a successful Native Foods should be run.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The food is always amazing and their staff is always SUPER FRIENDLY and super helpful. Coming from someone who spent most of their time in their 20's in the service industry, I say these guys do it right. They know all about the menu, are ready with recommendations and have an amazing attitude, which goes a long way with me. Go there for delicious healthy food and great service.

First let me say that I'm not VEGAN! Not even close to vegan but this place looked so bright and inviting I was willing to try something new. I enjoy an occasional salad every now and then, which is what I was expecting when I walked inside. Not even close! This place offers a menu for vegan and carnivores alike. I wasn't brave enough to try the "fake" meat but I did order a grilled chicken wrap to take back to the office. It was bright, fresh, and full of flavor! Really enjoyed it! It was more like a Chipotle burrito in size so I feel like it was worth the money spent. Most of these spots can get pretty pricey! I decided to share with my friend who was raving and asking where I had picked it up from. Staff was very welcoming and didn't look at me like Satan's spawn when I had questions about the menu or the meat that isn't meat? Anyway, that was also refreshing as my previous experiences in these type of venues I've found staff to be downright snobbish and condescending if you don't speak all things veagan. Nice spot! Would return for the food and homemade drinks again!

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had! Food is great, staff is courteous and friendly! Chipotle sauce highly recommended with everything. Chicken wings crispy and buffalo. Desserts are great too, especially oatmeal Creme pie.

This place is awesome! My husband and I stopped here on a whim thinking it might be a healthier alternative to the surrounding food options. I had no idea it was a vegan place, happy happy joy joy! All their tempeh and sietan is made by scratch in house daily, how cool is that?! We ordered the kale macro bowl and it was so yummy, next time I think I'll order with extra sauerkraut and sauce, that was the best part. They have a variety of homemade teas and drinks, I tried the lavender infused lemonade, mint watermelon and lemongrass green tea, all very delicious! The service was excellent, the girl that took our order was so friendly, asked if we were familiar with the place and answered all our dietary questions. So refreshing to speak to someone knowledgeable about the food they are serving. We are stoked to have a new vegan restaurant to visit on our way to Sprouts.

I am a light eater for the most part, and vegetarian. I ordered the Soul Bowl, Seasoned Potato Fries, had a Watermelon Fresca, and a Peanut Butter Parfait. I tore them all up! EVERYTHING was better than great...it was amazing!

My second visit today. I had the chicken club which was very good and filling. I also had the regular fries and the sweet potato fries. I requested they both be crispy and that's how they served them. They were seasoned with chili powder on the regular fries I think and a more complex seasoning on the sweet potato. Both tasted very good. I tried one of their unsweetened teas and also the lavender lemonade which was good but very sweet. Then because of other reviews I tried the oatmeal crime pie. It had a good flavor but needless to say was all fat and sugar. Good for an occasional splurge. I could only eat half of one.

If Native Foods wasn't in such an odd location (off Rosecrans near a hot TJ Maxx parking lot...bleh) I would eat there nearly every day. The staff is unbelievably sweet and are always smiling and happy. I leave there a better person - seriously positive vibes. 5/5... Drinks: New Planet Gluten Free Pale Ale (under $5); must have their homemade organic green tea mixed with either Lavender Lemonade or Watermelon Juice, especially since SD is on fire this summer. Food: Native Nachos are so tasty and at least "feel" a bit healthier (and heartier) than the average pile of nachos; the entree salad with the cilantro dressing, avo and native meat was bananas good, Oklahoma burger super yummy, a lil more rich. Meh... Tempeh Reuben- I am really hoping they messed up my sandwich. There was no sauce, no cheese, no relish (two pickle slices on top not enough) a few scraggly pieces of tempeh and a lot of bread. Saddest tempeh reuben ever (one of my fave vegan sammys, usually). The side of kaleslaw was also so bland and maybe a bit off that I didn't bother. Thankfully, my bro let me take his nachos :) Oh - and the key lime pie thing? AMAZING - it was like a decadent cheesecake with fresh lime. This place gets an easy 5 stars even with the sad reuben.

I'm not Vegan, but I do like to take a break from meat once and a while. My friend and I were on our way to a store and we were hungry. We looked up on Yelp what was near by and seeing how we are being more conscious of what we are eating we chose this place. I got the Thursday Special which is a Turkey Bacon Club with lemon and dill Potato salad. I made a mixed drink of green tea and the lavender lemonade to drink. It was SO GOOD! So my friend and I decided that when we are in the area we will be stopping in. Oh not to mention the staff are really nice. Best thing of all is after eating there, you have no guilt.

So good! Definitely get the nachos and lavender lemonade. Excited for the Clairemont location to open later this month! Who knew vegan food could be so good?

Stumbled upon this place when the Einstein Bagels was closed on a Sunday afternoon and looking for a snack. First off they just recently opened but seemed well put together and we're incredibly helpful to new customers. (Our crew: one pregnant woman, a meat loving man and an infant) My husband ordered the Steak Sandwich and devoured it. He had NO IDEA he wasn't eating meat. I tasted his and it was really good! Well flavored but not overpowering. The side sweet potatoe fries were good too. My dish was disappointing. I had the Soul Bowl. Great concept: Country fried chicken, rice, beans and steamed veggies with kale and a cornbread. The veggies were undercooked and the beans and rice was bland and watery?! The hard veggies made it a confusing watery warm salad . . . However I also had the delicous coconut corn chowder and combined with my cornbread it was plenty filling! Hearty and flavorful and I could easily eat it anytime. I'm assuming it was the owner come over and checked on the table. Extremely friendly and sweet I didn't have the heart to mention my disappointment. But loved everything else so gave them a four star rating and we'll be back to try other dishes.

First time I walked into this restuarant, I gave my usual speech, "Im a vegan, what can I eat here"?, they lady at the counter answered anything, I thought she did not hear me correct, so I repeated my question.... then I realized it was a Vegan restuarant. Never, have I been shocked and happy like that day. Please don't ever close your doors. I have taken a lot of friends and family to eat here, all non vegan.

Delicious and healthy unique vegan menu. They get the take out orders right too. I like the Curry bowl, the Soul bowl and the Saigon rolls. I need to try more menu items, but end up ordering the same usually. Another plus is there's parking.

Don't get the azteca salad, cardboard has more flavor. I added the chupacabra hot sauce and some chollula sauce to make it more palate able. The wife got the jerk kale salad which was actually pretty tasty and id order again. Not a fan of the restaurant/employee posted photos, this website is for real diners and photos. We ordered the polenta bites and told they were out, but when we were at our table an order went to the table next to us. We commented on that and they apologized and sent us home with an order. Nice save. I may not be back but wife definitely will.

This place has some good options for vegans. They recently changed their menu and took off my favorite salad (the chicken salad), so I probably won't be going out of my way to visit any time soon. The rest of their food is pretty decent. I mainly stick to their salads and sweet potato fries. I once tried a burger (not so great) and a meatball sub (okay). If you're hungry and around the corner, it's worth a stop.

The nachos here are to die for! The staff is always extremely friendly and the drinks are healthy and tasty. I love Native Foods and I am glad they brought the establishment here to SD.

Finally a vegan/vegetarian restaurant in San Diego! The food has a really nice presentation and the drinks are really different and nice. My favorite is Lavendar Lemonade to which I add fresh mint. The food is five star, but the environment is somewhat uncomfortable. Why do people think vegetarians don't like soft booths, tablecloths, some type of decor and attention to some ambience? I gave the restaurant four stars for not having a comfortable place to sit down and eat. The music was way too loud and distracting. The staff were really nice and friendly. Try the sweet potato fries seasoned with tarragon. They are delish.

This place is a revelation to me! I'm an omnivore and i'm NOT giving up my meat anytime soon, but that doesn't mean I fear veggies or going vegan now and then. I never thought I'd find any vegan place that served food that tasted as "American Diner Classic" as what I had here! It was delicious and comforting. I've had some delicious vegan food, some of it by my own hand (make yourself a batch of tofu burritos out of Moosewood's original cookbook some time!). The problem I've had is that I like "American" comfort food. Most of the best vegan foods I have had have been informed by a different culture than my own and, while I enjoy them, sometimes I want a greasy burger or some soul food and there have been no healthier options for getting this same taste. Enter Native Foods. Now don't get me wrong, this is not everyday food! There are still lots of calories in the food here and that has to be considered and planned for if you're trying to stay sane on your eating. But consider WHERE the calories and fat come from and you'll still be better off cheating here than you would at your classic "greasy spoon" establishment. I was torn between the soul bowl and the Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger. I went for the burger, my wife ordered Ensalada Azteca salad (redundant name?) And we got the Lucky 7 and Peanut Butter parfaits for dessert. What I got did not look like a bacon cheeseburger, but once I assembled it with a little of the ranch dressing and extended my lower jaw (this is a BIG burger!) I was blown away. The taste is spot-on! While nothing compares to Hodads, if your sights were set a tad lower the flavor of this creation will evoke the best that a regular fast-food joint could send your way. Give this sucker a chance and you won't be disappointed with this big messy burger! I gave my wife a bite and she didn't want to give it back! She also reports that her salad was excellent. I dunno because she ate it too fast for me to get a bite in- a good sign! Dessert was awesome! I liked the "lucky 7" creation that reminded me of a really good strawberry shortcake with almond-infused whipped cream- the dairy-free almond cream is a winner with the the fresh berries and yellow cupcake. The peanut butter parfait was my wife's favorite and it was every bit as good as the name suggests. A word to Native Foods: Make the deep-fried dill pickle chips a full-on side and you will have lines of people for them, alone! These were crispy and clean-tasting, not greasy and heavy. My burger came with four and I was lucky to get one of them! :-) Our boys? Well, we got them some Pickup Stix from next door. It's not that we weren't going to have them go vegan with us, it's just that one of them suffers from tree nut allergies, and with NF's heavy reliance on cashews for a lot of their creams and cheeses we thought it would be safer for them - the folks at Native Foods were cool and understanding about this so no problem. The boys are okay with almonds and peanuts, so we got two more parfaits for them, which they really loved. Those with nut allergies be warned, though. The food came out promptly and was hot. The non-alcoholic teas and "ades" were all really good (I particularly enjoyed the unsweetened peach tea!) unlimited refills of something other than fizzy soda is awesome!! Go here and try it, you won't be disappointed.

Wow. I am not vegan by any stretch, but I am a health nut. I stumbled upon this restaurant waiting to get my car washed, and it was SO GOOD!!! I bought their cookbook (embarrassing but true) because I was so impressed. I love their variety of iced teas (southern girl loves iced tea), and the staff was like an actual wait staff but not. I got the Azteca Salad I think. Super good.

I'm a meat-eater, but my roommate and I do enjoy plant-based food here and there. I had the Sausage and Mushroom burger with a cup of Native Chili. My roommate had the Oklahoma bacon burger. I loved my food. It was very delicious and filling without making feel bloated like a regular burger would. I really loved the sauces they used for the burger. I tried bites of my roommates' Oklahoma burger. It was good. I was skeptical of the bacon at first. Vegan bacon looks like used, crusty band-aides. Thankfully it tastes nothing like it looks. My only complaint is that they don't state how big their beers are. I orders one of their beers and paid 4.27 after taxes for it. I was EXTREMELY disappointed when my server came with a 12 ounce beer. It didn't even taste that good. Next time I'll go with an iced tea. At least that is free refills. Or I'll just have water. Great food but over-priced beer.

I am a vegan, I have eaten in a lot of vegan restaurants, Native Foods has the best tastiest food not only for vegans or vegetarians but for all customers. My meat-eater friends LOVE this place; every dish from earthy bowls, to salads, and specially the sandwiches are burgers are winners, so glad I finally have a Native Foods Cafe closer to home.

We go to Native Foods at least once, more often twice a week. The food is outstanding and the staff is outgoing and friendly. While we had a huge disappointment when they took the Reuben and the steak sandwich off the menu, they made up for it with the mufaletta. I still very much hope for my favorite sandwiches to come back (!) but the mufaletta is a delicious alternative, I love the spicy pickled vegetables.

Love, love, love this place! I had been to the one in Oregon several times and was so happy to find it while traveling in San Diego. Eating here fulfills all your cravings while being nutritious and good for you. I always have the hardest time deciding what to order because I want to try everything. The staff is really nice, you can tell they are treated well and happy to be working there. The amazing natural and homemade drinks with free refills are another wonderful addition to the meal. My meat-loving family often suggests going to this place, so don't be skeptical of the word "vegan".

Good vibes, great staff, my new favorite place. Whether you're vegan or not this place is THE SPOT. Not even expensive and did I mention the food was delicious?

I came to San Diego for a week for work and was delighted to find this gem! The service was very friendly and helpful! I had the "meatball" sub and ate the whole thing without remorse! I only changed to a vegan eating way of life under two years ago and have had my share of meatball subs of both the meat and meat-free variety and this one was the best ever! Can't wait to try other menu items through the week! And will definitely be looking for more Native Food Cafe's when I travel.

Love the food here, and the staff is very friendly. CAUTION! This is in an area of Point Loma, that has other eating establishments in the same strip-mall. My husband and I ordered our food, and he went to the asian restaurant next door, and brought his chicken stir-fry back. The manager came to our table, and while she was very nice, she told us we had to remove the chicken stir-fry, from the premises. I was stunned, to say the least, and my husband was really embarrassed. We moved out to the patio, thinking this would be ok, but this was not. When we left, I spoke with the manager, and while she was sweet, however explained to us that the companies owners, do not permit any meat or meat byproducts in their restaurants. I guess if this was clearly posted on their menu, or in the restaurant, that would be fine. But please next time, give your customers an option like a togo bag, rather than dropping a bomb like this, while you are eating, and walking away. I have gone to Native Foods since, because, and the food is great, BUT, the owners of the company, need a lesson on tolerance. Their policy leans more towards activism. My last visit, (by the way), I looked around an nearly everyone there was wearing leather shoes, and the women had leather handbags. I wonder what the owners of Native Foods think of this If I wear a leather-jacket, will they refuse service to me? Ridiculous!!!

I just discovered this place last night and I am so happy that I found a healthy place to eat out. My experience here was a good one. The atmosphere had a good vibe, the staff were friendly, the girls at the counter were very helpful, and my meal was awesome! I had their gluten free Sesame Kale Macro Bowl. The portion was pretty healthy too! I will definitely go back and try their other gluten free items on their menu. I only gave them four stars because it was my first time there.

Been to the Native food in Palm Springs so thought i'd stop by this this one to try out. So worth it. We got the curry bowl with brown rice, kale and tofu. Healthy & delicious although it could use extra curry sauce. The Oklahoma burger - delicious according to the non vegan cousin we took there. The Ruben sandwich - had great texture and flavor with the special fries. The chicken sandwich - which my sister who is a picky vegAn also enjoyed. I've also got to rave about the watermelon fresca and lavender lemonade. What I like About this place is that the food taste nothing like vegan food and food presentation is beautiful & appetizing.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. It was my first time trying vegan food and I was blown off my feet. The food section is amazing, the food is to die for, the service is welcoming. If you're around the area, definitely make the stop! Oh, and if you sign up and get a card with them, they'll give you a free drink with your order - it's absolutely free to sign up! The drinks are amazing as well! I got the iced chia, which tasted like heaven! I honesty wish they had more locations, especially near my town. But if I'm ever around the area, I'm definitely going to stop by again!

Wow! This place is awesome! I have been to their Encinitas location and am so glad they are opening one off of Rosecrans. Not only is the food amazing, vegan, and healthy; but the customer service is outstanding. They always have enough friendly employees to expedite orders and the wait is never long for fresh, delicious food. They also have a rewards program for their frequent customers where you can earn points for every dollar spent. I was invited to their grand opening as a member of their rewards program and it was stellar. Everyone received a FREE appetizer, entrée, side, dessert and drink at the private event. I usually get the same thing, but I tried some new items and they were awesome (polenta bites? Yes, please!) I can't say enough good things about the food, mission statement and customer service and would highly recommend that you check it out. And yes, even carnivores will love it!

I do not normally review restaurants, but my hope is that the company will continue to expand throughout San Diego County. My husband and I first discovered Native Foods in Palm Springs a year or more ago and have gone every time we visit Palm Springs. Until last month there was only a single NF and that was in Encinitas which is pretty far for us to go since we live in east County. Neither my husband nor I are Vegan nor are we vegetarian, but the food is so well done here that we will drive the 20 minutes and fight traffic on Rosecrans just to eat here once a week or so. This is a far cry from your typical vegan or veggie restaurant that does salads and protein bowls. The food here is inspired and interesting and tastes really wonderful. In our numerous trips to this store and their Palm springs store we have tried the meatball sub, the scorpion burger, the chicken sandwich, the curry bowl, the polenta bites, the nachos (numerous times), the Reuben, the blackened tacos, the bistro steak sandwich, the native fries and the side salad. ALL of it has been very good and very fresh and we would order them again, but our consistent favorites are the bistro sandwich and the nachos. We crave these items they are so good! The one problem I have with them is that they offer too many wonderful drinks and I can never decide between the watermelon or lavender lemonade. Great service, clean and a nice environment. We will keep coming back to this location until hopefully they have a location open up closer to us.
